Somebody wants to keep this project moving forward. A special Design Commission meeting just for this project was scheduled for Monday 06/05.

Back on June 5th the Design Commission voted 6-3 in favor of the density bonus (F.A.R. increase). So the concerns of some Four Season's residents only ended up causing a about a two week delay.

The site plan was approved and released yesterday. White Lodging should be breaking ground real soon.

There was another Demo filing today. It was for all three buildings on the site, and it looks like it will be happening soon.

Permit:

From the filing:

I'm proud of White Lodging and all, and boy they don't screw around when they want to build something . . . . but could they have made this look any more like a Baby JW? A little differentiation goes a long way, IMO.

This looks to be the first big project (~30+ floors) to break ground in a year. 70 Rainey, Third + Shoal and Austin Proper all broke ground in August-September last year. That seems like a long time. I hope a few of the other big ones start fairly soon.

Nope. Just walked by it on my lunch break Friday -- seemingly negative movement. No action at the site, and a good bit of the construction fencing was stacked at the back of the lot.

Not yet. The Demo permit still hasn't been approved.

The Demo permit still doesn't show as approved yet, but today a permit was filed for excavation that "follows demolition phase".

Drove by this morning and was once again struck by how small (relatively) the footprint is going to be. Glad to see them push height here.

Yay! The demo permit was approved yesterday and demo begins the next day.
Finally, the first big project (30+ stories) of 2017 gets underway.

Here's a photo of the demo from the TOWERS link that We vs us posted. The photo is a still from a short video of the demo.
I went by the site earlier today, and only the restaurant was demo'ed. The small parking lot next to the former Christian reading center was full of cars. I don't know why there were so many cars parked there because the demo crew amounted to mainly one guy and his excavator death machine.
