Anyone watch the Curse of Oak island?
It looks like the caisson they're using to access the Money Pit chamber.

Not much digging, just a bunch of drilling right now. Two large yellow drills onsite working.

Looks like they're finding quite a bit of old timber (rail ties?). Not surprising given the location though.

So are the steel cassions still there far below?
(Wouldn't steel pilings be driven after excavation (like at the New West Riversky towers)?)

I presume the Province would be on the hook for the enviro remediation costs, as per the original land purchase deal with Concord.

Each downtown bridge is going to have a new tower to watch go up. Burrard Place, Vancouver House and The Arc. Pretty awesome.

It's funny that many of the interesting towers are pushed to the peripherals or edges of downtown. I think CoV are allowing these more interesting projects as "visual show pieces" when vehicles enter downtown. It's just like having more interesting projects at the skytrain gateways of Joyce and Marine Gateway neighbourhoods. Outside these areas everything is but a bore.

Hopefully they also allow an interesting tower project to go up on the south side of Cambie at where the Olympic Village Station parking lot is, although unlikely.

It's a specifically outlined plan called gateway towers that allows for taller height in gateway entrances to downtown so long as the towers exhibit architectural excellence.

That said I only think it applies to Granville and Burrard, not Cambie, but I may be wrong.

Not sure if that plot was part of the original expo lands or added after.

It's part of the Expo Lands, which go up to Beatty in that area.

Ahh I see, then ya I would guess the prov. is on the hook for remediation costs.

The Arc - Two steps forward, one step back

My photos - April 23rd

I find it curious how they shifted the pile of dirt from the middle of the pit to the bridge side. I assume they're using it as an exit ramp for the machines, but I can't really figure out why that would be needed at this stage.
