Why did the floor count and height get changed on the thread title? The big tower is still 36 floors and 113 meters to the top of the structure, 110 meters is the roof height without mechanical hut.

Today's Progress:

Because that's how it's consistently reported in all the Dev Apps... as the roof height without the mechanical penthouse. We don't have a reliable way to know the absolute heights of most of these projects. And according to the latest elevations, the tallest building only has 35 floors.

I see that it's 35 now on that elevation, but that elevation also shows that the top floor is at 105.205m, the mechanical room at 108.5m, and the roof height at 114.585m. Can we revise this one to 35fl/115m?
The 25 story tower is now 81.56m (82m)
The 27 story tower is now 87.55m (89m)
The 8 story tower is now 26.08m (26m)

But even 114.585m isn't the absolute height. It's the penthouse roof without the protuberances above that, which aren't quantified. This becomes a grey area because many plans don't list this extra height above the recognized roof level. I'd prefer that we stick with the standard way of reporting building height in the dev apps as the roof height without the mechanical penthouse, because it's a required and easily determined value that we can report on.

I respectfully disagree. I think we should go with the highest height we have confirmation of to conform as closely to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitats standard measurement to Architectural Top as we can.

1. Architectural Top
This is the most common way to measure a building. The architectural top of a building includes any building structure or ornaments, like spires or parapets, but it does not include what the CTBUH considers “functional-technical equipment.” Functional-technical equipment is anything that may be subject to change, such as a flagpole, antennae, or signage. The architectural top method is used to determine the world’s tallest buildings, although due to the subjectivity of what is "architectural" and what is merely "functional-technical equipment," it can sometimes lead to some controversy.

Agree with Harley but of course not my decision, just voicing I agree lol.

I am glad to see this is starting! This is going to be the fourth tallest in Ottawa-Gatineau, at least until the other ones start going up. But this is a good start! I hope all those giant towers approved already get built so we can start getting a move on our skyline! Amirite folks?!

They don't usually grind down the rock on excavation do they? Why does it seem like there is a bit of different process happening here. Or is it just me?

I live nearby. I find it a bit of an odd spot for that much density. But happy to see it built. Between this site, the other one under construction on Cyrville and a third site (behind this one) getting cleared, is absolutely mind boggling how quickly this area is changing, after basically not much movement for nearly a decade and a half, other than the Brownstones at PdG.

The crane went up on Friday. So should be interesting to watch this project go up as it is going to make a major impact on the east end skyline. Very excited for this one!

For a short period of time, the second tallest building in Ottawa will be located in an East end suburb, and the fourth tallest will be located in a West end suburban office park. Ottawa is so weird.

I think Harley is referring to the Brookstreet Apartments in Kanata

https://skyscraperpage.com/forum/sho...=248863&page=2

Which I forgot is now underway.

Ottawa is indeed a strange duck.

Walked by the site this afternoon and it looks like they'll be two cranes for the first phase.
One for the tower (which is up) and the second for the hotel.

Nice to see the tallest tower be part of phase 1.

The area is really weird now but will only improve with these new projects. And a good thing this is a short walk to Cyrville station at least.

The speed here is insane. All hands on deck! If this was a Richcraft build, it would still be one guy with a shovel digging a trench around the perimeter. I guess that crumbly rock makes a huge difference compared to the typical bedrock around here, as well.

Cool shot! You're right - it's moving along nicely!
