That looks great, full stop.

And, after Googling what the current building looks like, that looks exceptional! Exciting reclad.

The TD Centre redevelopment project in Halifax has also started but it will be a while before they have a crane up and begin recladding the existing portions of the building. For now they are dismantling one of the heritage buildings on the property and stabilizing its facade so that it can be incorporated into the development. It is a fairly impressive commercial building from the 1830s (the two-storey storefront windows and mansard roof were later additions):

If everything goes well the Fenwick and Queen are will be a nice medium density area with good amenities.

The old Days Inn before the reclading

After the reclading it's now a Holiday Inn Express

Pictures by me.

The Days Inn moved to Queen Street on the old Diplomat Motel site.

That look is appearing more and more up here. It's inexpensive and makes properties stand out from the typical EIFS crap. One of Thunder Bay's up-and-coming shopping hubs is just a bunch of buildings designed in that style, though with a degree of rusticism since they weren't re-cladding a 60s era internationalist box.

The site has been fenced off and the reclad/renovations have begun for the Imperial Suites.

I drove by about a month ago and it wasn't underway yet. It should be starting soon if it hasn't already since the last time I saw it.

That Hamilton reclad looks excellent - it's amazing how such minor changes can really update a building.

Are you guys looking at the same images I am? Seriously? 1978 called to say 1990 looks funny.

But that's still an improvement over 1978.

Them balconies...

It looks like faux white picket fences on the left, but nicely improved on the right. And the other changes make it a more attractive, modern building. It goes from standing out as an eyesore to completely blending into the background unoffensively. I think that's a great improvement.

They did that with an old brown-brick 10 story eyesore in the Beltline in Calgary as well. I don't have any pics right now but it is a marked improvement. They added some nice vibrant red panneling up the sides, all new windows with vivid white trim, I don't think they replaced the balcony railings though which really fucks with the new feel, as the railings are just brown-painted metal. Bleh.

An amazing transformation of the Union Bank Tower of Winnipeg, built in 1904.

Not exactly a reclad, but I thought it was a nice renovation.

Top photo is 2009, and underneath is 2012.

Toronto recently had this restoration/reclad at Queen and Bathurst. The old Reverb/Kathedral/Big Bop music venue (where I actually played a couple times).

Before:

Sauce.

and After:

More sauce.

I'm personally torn because I loved playing there and it was a good part of my life, but the reclad is definitely good for the building and the area. Looks much better.

Bonus, tiny picture, but this is what the building originally looked like. Shame it lost the roof:

I like alfredo sauce personally.
