Check out the comparison between the decorations at the top of the concrete on the lower level and the Autobot logo.

It's vaguely autoboty but yes I think we can assume this is the headquarters of an advanced alien race that defends earth from the evil decepticons.

The pre-cast is a bit 90's but it otherwise has a solid and cohesive look, the dark vision-glass and the pre-cast creates nice contrast. The proportions are nice and the cap finishes the top very elegantly.

Compare it with the train-wreck that is TV Towers just to the west

I like the podium of TV Towers (good use of materials) and the facades with the red dots.
The mauve facade on the north side of the taller TV Tower is a disaster.

Thank you for the pictures.
This building is kind of mellow and nice, really, except the bits of dark blue spandrel, wich look "malplacé.".
I wonder if a scaled-down 320 Granville could have similar design elements of brick and glass,
with perhaps (this being near the entrance to Gastown, Waterfront Station, and the Sinclair Centre) a greater emphasis on brick and may some post modern elements?

Anyhow, this is a nice transition into Yaletown from the glassier structures in the 'hood.

You're welcome for the photos. I'm glad to contribute and I wouldn't have much to add about the decisions behind permitting, construction, design, or sales. All the small things give context to understand what's happening with the city; the same applies to all the different layers here like nname talking about transit statistics or JohnnyAussie about airplane routes. Rumours, squabbles, and roads too.

Since there was not much change since officedweller's photo, and I always liked checking for photos just to watch the progress, I'll point out on the penthouse level facing south towards the camera, that's blue insulation/vapor barrier? for a wall right in the middle. Maybe a spot for signage.
