Yeah I checked it out and he has a video of the section of the 401 by Pearson Airport- the widest road in Canada.

18 through lanes, not to mention all those auxiliary and transfer lanes:

Crazy to see all those lanes merge down to 6, but there's currently a constriction project in Mississauga that will extend the collector/express system further west.

Is that construction in the lower right, or did someone have some fun?

The Don Valley Parkway: the 10th most congested highway in North America.

Traffic is so bad that the highway has received the nickname "Don Valley Parking Lot".

Also it was built through environmentally-sensitive lands. The route would not have been built if it were by today's design standards.

Yes it would. Hamilton just built a freeway through a river a couple years ago. Might be a better design but the principle is the same.

They don't support the parts of Ontario adjacent to Manitoba, what makes you think they'll support Manitoba, too?

I'd say the design is a failure. The road still functions as a river whenever there's a heavy rain.

The City has hired a crew that goes up and down the Red Hill to unclog any drains when it rains or when it's wet. So far it's been working.

Some of Canada's northernmost highways:

Klondike Highway (Yukon #2)

Dempster Highway (Yukon #5/NWT #8)

Top-of-the-World Highway (Yukon #9)

He's right.

All freeways do are help the economy.

Who needs jobs or money?

Two additional photos of the Dempster and Top-of-the-World Highways.

Dempster Highway

Top-of-the-World Highway

I'd really love to go on a trip up to the Yukon and travel on some of these highways sometime.

I've been on the Top of the World Highway. I don't remember much from my trip to the Yukon/Alaska (I was 6), but I do remember Dawson, the dredges, and that highway.

Dempster is a spectacular drive. I will try to find my photos from my drive on the ice road from Tuk to Inuvik. In a cab.

The Canol road from Whitehorse to Ross River is special as well.
