Yeah I noticed that it seems another row of cladding has been removed in the last week or so. Good to see some progress.

In related news I dont know if this is the best place to post this, but Royal Trust tower, the second tallest of the TD centre, will as well be reclad.

I expect to see a number of these types of projects go forward in the next several years as more tenants demand energy efficent buildings and the technology evolves to make these projects more cost effective.

The Royal Trust Tower is having the windows replaced with identical bronze tinted glass.

FCP's reclad has had a number of accidents which may be a cause for any delay but, I've also heard they are actively looking for more workers to complete the job.

Very nice.

I'm excited to see them take the scaffolding away so I can see it from the street.

Yeah, its hot. I hadnt been around the base for a while, it was actually progressing a bit faster than I thought. The fritted glass looks amazing, just wish they had put some LED lights in there, that would have been bomb ass.

So how much weight will be taken off the building. I mean glass would weigh less than the stone facade it has now. And would that mean the building would have an added longer lifespan, as there is less stress on it with the additional weight that has been taken off? I new at this, so please bear with.

Yeah but your average office worker is way fatter than in 1975 when it was built, so it will all balance out!

I would suspect, that steel if properly maintained could last for hundreds of years.

But being logical, I would have to assume this building goes out of service by 2030 to 2040.

Huh? Where did you get those numbers? They would hardly spend 100 million to extend a building by only 20 or 30 years. By your estimate, the Empire State building is years overdue for demolition.

That some heavy stuff you're smok'n there, Caltrane.

Does anyone know or can give a fairly good guess on the lifespan of the spandrel glass? I can't see it lasting more than 50 years.

The structure will last forever as long as people are there to maintain and protect it.

As expected, the removal of the old tiles had been shut down due the gravitational miscues involving a streetcar. Apparently, the investigation is over and the process has resumed.
