I hate the outdoors (well, at least if I'm stuck out there for more than 3 consecutive hours), but Bass Pro is quite neat. I had the urge to buy a gun safe. Though I don't own a gun... my logic was what criminal would be dumb enough to ask me to open my gun safe. What if I was a quick draw champion? My downer of a better half shot down the idea, though

Looks like I just got in barely minutes before the T-storm...

Is anyone else as addicted to M&M Meat Shops as I am?

I live right behind a Safeway (Xenex) and took a bus all the way out to 45th Street to get some M&M... (well, admittedly, I was with someone at Westbrook Mall beforehand)...

How does this Mucho Burrito place compare to the "Mondo Burritos" you get at Taco Del Mar? I used to love Taco Del Mar but there's no easy to get to locations for me.

It's the best I've had. Until then, the best I had had was a burrito place at Granville Island in Vancouver that used only hippy fresh organic ingredients.

And Mucho Burrito was better

I'm not used to places where the meat is clearly identifiable as either chicken or beef. Their fresh guacamole was the most amazing thing, though.

I'll have to try it. Beacon Hill is way too far away.

I'll wait until the Bankers Court one opens (and I do think it's going in Bankers Court, as if you look, there's two South Trail Crossing locations listed... if they make that mistake, it's easy to mistake Bankers Court for Hall.

Speaking of retail, I need a haircut and have no style. Where would you guys recommend to go that will not only give a good cut, but also good advice as to what kind of cut to get?

I used to be a huge fan of their Barbeque Beef Bowls, but I've noticed the meat has gotten much worse in the past few years. I have some in my freezer downstairs, I think I'll cook one up right now.

Had it all shaved off (well, a #1) for $10 at my local barber's. It's my recession haircut. No money on gel, no time wasted in the morning and perfect for the hot weather.

Heres another little retail development I wasn't aware of until just now when I was browsing Hopewell's web site: the Village at Elbow Valley. Small retail mall, anchored by a 42,000 sq foot grocery store (doesn't mention who, if anyone, has signed on yet) along with a half dozen smaller stores, located just off of Highway 8 on the west side of the Elbow Valley golf course. Not too surprising considering theres how many thousands of people living in the area now, I'd be curious as to who may go in there though. Safeway already has 2 relatively close stores (Aspen Hills and Westhills) and Sobeys in Strathcona and the West Springs Co-op are not that far away either, though still a bit of a drive. 42,000 is too small for Superstore, though I could see them try a Extra Foods (rumored soon to be rebranded as No Frills in western canada)

Bass Pro was IMMENSE!!! I was there with a bunch of senior pharmacy regional managers (much older crowd, many close to retirement) who you could just tell they were doing math in their head of how many boats, trailers, and fancy outdoor gear they could buy... it was funny to watch them act like kids in a candy store...

Of course I have not yet been to Cross Iron Mills, as I don't drive.

They should really consider providing some transportation if they want people to shop and work at their mall. It's only a few minutes drive as I recall from "North Point", yes?

They are running a shuttle for employees from a few locations, not sure the exact spot but when they did the piece on the news about the career fair they had the rep mentioned the NE, NW and downtown.

That actually wouldn't surprise me. Some lots in the latest phase of Elbow Valley started at $500,000 before the house IIRC

I know people who live there, and no that's about right. I'd hate to be trapped out there.

For the Elbow Valley store, I immediately thought Sunterra, but that would be pretty close to the Strathcona location. I can't see it being a Low Frills/Extra Foods.

Also, I'm pretty sure there's already a No Frills branded store in Okotoks...

Also convenient during Stampede - your cowboy hat doesn't muss up your hair. You can take your hat off whenever you want without feeling like a giant poser with hathead.

When you have obscene amounts of money, you tend to live in Mount Royal or Elboya or whatever those close-to-downtown rich areas are.

When you just have a lot of money, you tend to try to live the same lifestyle, but cannot afford it, so you move way the hell out into the boonies.

Honestly, $351,000 is a lot of money and much more than my household earns, but it's not *that* much money in a city like ours. I know many couples making pretty close to that, just regular folks with 15-20 years experience in a good paying field. The trick is to get involved with someone who makes as much or more than you do - which most of us aren't lucky enough to have, sadly.

But don't worry dear, I still love you all the same.

What a great location for a shopping area. Right at the entrance to the community, perfect for those commuting home to grab the things they need. Also a perfect spot for a refreshment after a great game of golf!

Is there any indication on when this will be completed (or is it even u/c yet?)?

That was my thought. Sunterra always moves into locations where people enjoy what my dad calls "theme park shopping."

I haven't been out there in a bit, it wasn't last I was through there. I may be going into the city to the SE tomorrow so I might take that way in instead and take a look.

for all those deep SE'ers...coming soon to 130th Ave, Indigo Books. next to Pro Hockey Life and Home Outfitters. I guess this makes up for the disappearance of Indigo from SouthCentre.
