is that dark glass I see?

this is a very unque design, the glass is darker than the rest of the waterfront.

Dark glass...not completely

The glass does seem to be dark, but keep in mind that it is not being used on a large portion of the north side of the building. This building seems to be designed to have a mix of several different types of glass and spandrel colouring. The north side features a lighter shade surrounding lighter glass.

It was suggested the south-facing glazing is darker to dampen the summer sun light and heat.

Fairmont Pacific Rim as seen from the corner of Burrard and Cordova.

The tower doesn't step in, hence it being the largest building by sqftage in the city. (even though it's not anywhere near the tallest)
