That was posted and discussed somewhere on here back then. But yeah, it doesn't paint the best picture of WCC.

Exactly...Developers are masters of self promotion so everything they say has to be regarded with great skepticism. Nobody believed Stacy when he proposed the high rise several years ago..

Nate Paul was recently quoted at a Dallas Bisnow event as saying this project will break ground "soon" with a "late 2017" delivery. He believes that this will position 99 Trinity well as most of the newly-built units will have been absorbed by the time this tower is delivered.

Makes since...but, we'll see.

He also hinted at the possible development of other parcels they own downtown (including the one surrounding The Austonian at Third & Congress). When combined, WCCG has the entitlements to construct over 4M SF of space in downtown Austin alone. Again, we'll see.

Good to know.

Here's a little more on that plus some other stuff from bisnow.com.

Here's the Bisnow article with the 99 Trinity comments:

Edit: I just noticed that one of LSM's links goes to this same article.

I want that parcel redeveloped so badly. That and the small area where the construction trailers for the Colorado Tower have been are probably the two sites I want developed most downtown that haven't really gotten much mention. These lots have great potential.

Anyone out there have a subscription to the ABJ? Does this article mention anything about this project?

The story is mostly about his rags-to-riches rise, but below are the sections that mention 99 Trinity:

Quote:
In the past five years, the company has seized high-profile sites across the city — property adjacent to Austin’s most dominant skyscraper, The Austonian condo tower, along with more vintage sites, including bars and restaurants along Sixth and Red River Streets.

The company is poised to start its first major ground-up development at 99 Trinity St.— a 38-story, 350 unit apartment tower adjacent to the Four Seasons Hotel.
Quote:
During the next six months expect to see site work commence on the 99 Trinity project across from the Austin Convention Center along East Cesar Chavez Street. Paul acknowledges that there have been delays — but for good reason.

“We redesigned the project and have closely monitored the market to assess demand,” he said. “We have completed this and are moving forward full-speed ahead.”

Doucet & Associates engineering in Austin is navigating the project through the city development process.

President and CEO John Doucet said his history with World Class Capital has been productive and worthwhile — even though the 99 Trinity project has had a few bumps.

“We have worked with them for several years,” Doucet said. “All projects have challenges, but we have maintained an open and respectful relationship throughout. We have full intentions of continuing to work with them in the future.”

"Redesign?" Then the renderings we have seen thus far could look very different from what will be built!?! Possibly...

I like the fact that the number of levels have not decreased.

Any chance you could copy and paste the whole article? I am very curious to read more about Nate Paul. Does the article read like a press release for Nate Paul, or is there a real assessment of his business prospects and credibility?

I don't think that's allowed, but if you bookmark the article and wait 30 days, you can read it in full.

It's against the rules to reprint the whole article without permission, however it does read like a press release for Nate Paul. Lots of fawning over him and his college-dropout-to-real-estate-mogul status. However, there is no mention of the lawsuit filed against him by the employees of his Rio restaurant, which the Business Journal reported on in March: http://www.bizjournals.com/austin/ne...gh-dollar.html

Also, I'll let everyone else be the judge on this claim from the article:

Nate Paul is only 28,....

It's obvious that there are a lot of penis-envy forumers here. Nate has done nothing to you our anyone else. He is simply a brilliant real estate entrepreneur.

People are always more intrigued by, and fear, the mysterious. Nate does not necessarily mean to be mysterious...he just is focused on what he needs to do to succeed.

The man is a success story and he has worked very hard to achieve it. We should embrace that fact and try to emulate it.

Regarding Rio lawsuit case...are any of you privy to the facts of the case? If not, you have no grounds to judge.

By the way...have you seen how stress may seem to age a person prematurely? Obviously not.

I don't go to Rio but I have many connections within the service Industry in DT and from what I've heard is that it's a legit case.

I get what your saying about stress aging people but if that's what he really looks like and he's supposedly 28, then there's something more happening to him than simply stress.

I'm 35 and people think I'm in my late 20s. He looks like he's one drink away from a heart attack. He definitely looks older than me. People may think I'm in my late 20s but reality is I'm 35 and he looks older than a 35 year old.

I'm not saying he is, I don't know the man nor anything more than what news articles say about him. I'm just saying it's something more than stress to be looking like that at 28.

It's funny that you mention that and I may be the only one here so far that has noticed this but those pants he's wearing don't do a very good job at concealing if you get my drift lol...
