Hotel San Antonio de Valero

Thanks Paul, got another one. This one is good for a chuckle, inspired by its namesake. Well, I like it anyway. I'll probably change the colors though.

Lets put condos on the top 5 floors of that one....

How about apartments/condos above retail on the skinny lot near the Embassy Riverwalk and Rand Bldg.? Something in the 150-200ft range would be nice.

OK, done. Good idea, maybe Phil Collins would buy one.

I thought the same thing. I started one on that lot a while back, only instead of retail at the bottom of Houston side I put in a new Texas Theater . I placed a parking garage on the Travis side, with apartments above. I was a little uninspired by it, so I left it and started something else. I'll play with it again; I'm sure retail can fit in there, maybe a cool bar. Thanks.

I can't help to think that this rendering looks a whole like One Congress Building in Austin.

Entrance to the garage on Main St. side, retail on both Houston and Travis side (we can't have another Embassy Suites wall-along-Travis disaster,) parking underground or on 2+ floors and limited, there's plenty of on-street around.
Hope I didn't ask for too much.

Hmm... not too tall an order. Although I don't like the idea of having a garage entrance on a one way street (Riverbend Garage drives me crazy), I will try it your way. I'll try to have something to show you this week.

It wouldn't be too bad; traffic from both directions of Travis would still have full access, and Houston St. W to E traffic would be the only ones that would really have to circle the block.

Texas Theater

Ok miaht, this is what I came up with for that block. I figure I should get your input before I finish it up. I put the items in there like you asked. I added a parking entrance / exit on Main Street side as well; apparently left turns are not allowed on Soledad Street from Houston Street. I'll revisit this thing later and resubmit with whatever changes are made.

Houston / Soledad / Travis / Main

Theater, condos, penthouses, (parking garage 4 or 5 floors, half underground), retail at base on Soledad, Main, & Travis.

Emily Morgan Hotel & Susanna Dickinson Apartments

As promised:

focemily03 by Fireoutofclay, on Flickr]
focemily07 by Fireoutofclay, on Flickr

210ft

E Houston / Avenue E / Travis / Third / Bonham
Emily Morgan Street: between Avenue E and Bonham

Addition Includes:

Condos on top 2 floors of expansion. Apartments on Emily Morgan St side

Office / Retail ? Restaurant? on North Building

I created glass/steel bridge structures to attach the old building to the expansion.

Kept the existing buildings on the lot. The History Shop can remain or maybe be a lobby area or expanded museum. I guess that old house by Bonham can be rented out for parties, be a bar &grill, or just stay whatever it is now.

multi-level undergound parking along expansion area

& some cool publlic art

Thanks to Sketchup & Building Maker

Also cleaned up that strip of San Pedro Creek
Picture more trees around the area; I had to minimize to keep the file small

One Republic Center

E Commerce / S. St. Mary's / Market / Navarro

836ft

One Republic Center Texas Monument

Base could be Museum or Institute of Texan Cultures? / Civic Center? / Convention Space?

The five concrete mixture or metal heads on top: I picked Sam Houston, Stephen F.Austin, Moses Austin, Juan Seguin, and William Travis (i know, its debatable)
Five of the "six flags" (ceramic mosaics) above permanently positioned.
I am picturing at least 35 additional large statues of varying sizes and materials inside and outside the building. Tons of artwork.

Limited Underground Parking

Thanks to Sketchup and Google Earth

This was inspired by the 1912 Alamo Heros Monument Rendering:

http://www.drtl.org/Research/Images/Tower.gif
According to emporis.com, it would have had a museum with displays from all counties

A few years ago I went to Houston to deliver a sculpture to an artist that worked out of this yard. The heads were amazing lined up like that. I also found this very inspirational.

Navarro Plaza

Navarro / St. Mary's / Villita

Mexican Consulate, Public Restrooms, Bridge connecting to Parking Garage.

It may not be a building, but I think it compliments its surroundings.

Can you do one for Hemisfair? I like The 836 foot skyscraper, but it looks like it is not to scale with the surrounding buildings. The Drury plaza hotel is between 300-400 feet tall. I wish I knew how to do these designs. Nice work.
