What’s the Covid situation like down there right now (in terms of rules/restrictions, not cases). I was thinking of spending some time down there or in Uruguay in Jan/Feb, but don’t want to bother if it’s still in semi-lockdown.

Uruguay has a very small population and a small territory as well, with good infrastructure and mild weather. It is one of the least affected countries by the pandemics in many ways, not only in Latin America and Carribbean area, but also globally. Most of the population is fully vaccinated with the 2 doses. But, as anywhere, it is safer to avoid crowded places and use the mask, even if you have taken the vaccine, and general precautions like washing hands and good hygiene.
