Well, I've got my region up to 730,000 now... trying to make it somewhat realistic. The main downtown area is about 270K. Lots of farms on the outskirts. I'll maybe make a thread later.

I am challenging anyone who still plays SC3K, to beat a population of 4.8 million sims, without cheating, before me! Mwahahahaaaahaa!!!

Not that anyone is interested...

Atm I've had to restart from the beginning, since the whole construction, expansion and development of the city went horrifyingly difficult, and that I figured I needed more specialised buildings anyway, to pack more sims into the same space. So I called for a total redesign of the whole layout, but progress isn't happening at a ground-breaking speed. It is literally taking hours, and hours, and hours of micromanagement. Anyone attempting to take on board this challenge therefore has the better advantage.

My largest city in SC4 has something like 1,530,000 people. Still has room to expand. The region has about 1,8 million.

I've just recalculated all my planning for the 5 million sc3k city i am building.
It will not have 5.4 million but 5.1 million.
I restarted for the third time, because I found yet another method
I also got a new faster laptop. One year goes by in 10 seconds instead of every 15 minutes now.
I have just discovered yet a better method for packing in more and more sims, but I'm sticking with the third one for now and start the fourth after i finish.

In just 5 days the city of Armadasanti reaches 1.6 million sims, that means another 3.5 million sims to go.

Today I have successfully completed Armadasanti after 3 months of construction. It stands at 5 million sims. Built without use of any cheats; not a single plop-mode building can be found.

Yes, there are just enough hospitals, schools, colleges, libraries, museums, police stations, and parks in the city. Power, water, and garbage are all handled by neighbour deals, and water pollution is handled by water treatment plants. However, there are no firestations-- the city doesn't need them.

Here are the city stats:

Plus over 1 million students (that's 1/7th of the total population):
