Has any of the construction crew returned to the Astra site? I hope this doesn't turn into a a huge delay. You would think there would be other things at the site that can be worked on while they clean this up.

Im curious if OSHA is involved. At the very least they are reviewing what happened and probably engineers are looking into the problem unless it’s obvious. I’d be curious to see what Schmoe says

I just walked by the site about an hour ago, and no, there's no crews there, no work being done. The accident damage itself doesn't appear to have been touched at all either.

Joined in 2003, that literally speaks for itself. Can’t even imagine what this forum looked like back then, or if it even existed yet. I’m sure Schmoe is salivating every day from these proposed highrises

Pretty sure SSP looked the same in 2003 lol. It definitely looked like this in 2006.

Salt Lake City development news looked different in 2003, that's for sure.

Two interesting developments I noticed the other day:

First, the 370 S West Temple site has been completely cleared of all vegetation. Although, there is still no fencing up.

Second, the former Big Lots site on 200 S has been fenced up, parking lot included. I was thinking it could be used as a staging area for the 200 S reconstruction. Anyone have any details on this one?

The Big Lots lot was issued a demolition permit on 8/3, so it'll be gone soon.

There was a lot consolidation for the Big Lots site approved late last year. Developer is Wright Development who also did Block 44 on 400 South. Probably another large multifamily development.

Hopefully this one will have some kind of street engagement like the LOCAL development across the street and not another Block 44.

It looked the same in 1998, which is when I first started visiting this site, even though I didn't create an account until 2008.

Rocky Mountain Power update

https://www.sltrib.com/news/2022/08/...r-takes-first/

I can tell you that I am working on this project and it is progressing quite well. The first phase masterplan is almost complete and the HQ should start construction in the first half of next year. I've been involved in the masterplan and the design of the HQ.

Will they or won't they close Gadsby early? Not all of those units are 70.

Orlando accidentally drew in a major league stadium and it was approved as well. Thanks Orlando

The Denver-SLC population comparison on the sub as well as past conversations here have made me curious about whether or not SLC's metro population figures will ever be more accurate? When using the combined statistical area as opposed to metropolitan area SLC the gap between the two regions is much smaller

It seems misleading or at least silly that when you look up salt lake's metro population it only says 1.2 million but when including ogden/provo/park city/logan it's nearly 3 million. I understand Utah is a bit unique when it comes to the amount of cities but I don't see why this discrepancy between CSA and MSA populations has to be so much larger than other nearby cities
