I hope so. What a good development.

If South Philly was truly concerned about "gentrification," they'd encourage more development like this around Broad Street and the subway.

in other broad street news, the big surface lot on the NW corner of Broad and Spring Garden is empty and fenced off and seemingly close to getting started. i’m also not stoked on the design, but am excited to see this lot better utilized, especially with all of the other projects in the immediate vicinity.

Not me. I'd rather it stay fallow.

It is by far the lowest quality proposal on North Broad right now.

In 2 years we'll be talking about this in the same way we're talking about 4th & Race today.

In my weird opinion, I actually really like when stuff like this happens. The oddities of Philly's small lot subdivisions keep things eclectic and interesting, unlike a lot of cities where boring block-sized buildings dominate their scale. Of course, admittedly, it's not an attractive building lol, but it's another commercial spot that helps to break things up.

I second this.

^the assumption that waiting longer turns these projects into something better isn’t something i’m ready to agree with, though i fully understand the spirit of what you’re saying.

Maybe it could eventually get replaced with a five story skinny.

The thought of a five-story skinny is compelling. Or, perhaps, an equivalent of the peculiar evolvement occurring on the 9xx block of Arch Street, south side.

A building of that stature would not be in complete isolation as Lincoln Square is diagonally located across intersection.

FYI they are replacing the glass on the FDP pedestrian overpass over 9th street. I assume they will replace the panels as well eventually.

Don't even worry about it bruh. Most of these slang words have quick expiration dates. Even jawn has been played out since it got co-opted by hipsters. Then some die and come back years later.

You want an old new one. "Jack" for cellphone. Ex. Guy 1: yo bro come holla at this chick right here. Guy 2: na bro I don't even got my Jack on me. Guy 1: bro stop being a bitch, what you need a jack for, she right here.

^ A real thumbs up for making the best of this brutalist box. I hope power washing the remainder is on the agenda, as with the "Fashion District" renovations.

Yeah - a reminder that boxes have 4 sides - and the other 3 all looked equally like shit as this one did before the reno. I haven't been by in a while, but any word on what they are planning for the two street facing frontages?
