Nothing new here, just where we are as far as stats for this development...

Massive amount of mechanical. Square footage to visualize is 80% of 432 Park @ 412k sqft.

I'd imagine the CB folks will be pleased with the accessible space (public).

One Vandy has 1.6ish mil sq-ft, so this thing will be monolithic.

About 500k sq-ft shy of 1 WTC.

Yeah, 270 Park also has a lot of mechanical space, somewhere close to half a million. Vanderbilt had about half that.

Wow this thing is really going to happen. Amazing! Do the renderings above represent the true height? And I have to pinch myself, thinking about the base and how beautifully it will compliment Grand Central. With Manhattan West and now this, SOM is really on fire right now.

This was a previous representation of the project. The tower is 1,646ft tall.

This tower will be a glorious central focus of Midtown. Will totally redefine the skyline. Can't wait.

Does anyone know why the Tower Fifth thread is locked? We now have demolition of one of the lots. And two of the three other lots are totally vacant and gutted. I bet the entire site is cleared by end of year. Tower Fifth, while probably a year or two off from construction, will likely beat 175 Park to completion, so will be a short-term Midtown skyline king.

That thread is closed because there is nothing to report. If someone has new photos to post, of course that can happen.

On the subject at hand, I'm more curious now as to the progress of the crown. They've got to get it right, as it will be the signature element that defines the skyscraper on the skyline.

It could very well eventually be something like that. I'm not sure exactly how it will turn out, I just want it to look great. It may take away some of the sting from the 53w53 height cut (but I doubt it).

Man I am in love with this building. It really reminds me of a futuristic gothic design with all the pointed arches. And I love the base with how it opens up like a curtain.

This is a fantastic building, but the top just looks incomplete. With a spire, I think it would be a good "replacement" of Crystler and could even outshine ESB as the new king of NYC. What do you guys think of my illustration?

^^^^

Imagine Grand Hyatt with a One Liberty Place crown.

If someone could photo shop the top portion of this tower into Hyatt, would be great (just for a fun idea)

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... EXCEPT HERE.

This tower DOES NOT NEED a spire that makes it look like ESB or Chrysler, it just needs some sort of termination that makes the top look less like a flat roof.

For the record I think that SSC user rendering looks ridiculous.

I agree - no spire. Midtown has enough spires in the vicinity. It looks beautiful as is.

I just hope the crown is lit up properly at night. That’s the rendering I really need to see.
