"East Boise neighbors, many of them homeowners in Barber Valley, packed a three-hour Boise Planning and Zoning meeting in April, pushing back against the development. Many said they still hoped another restaurant or some other commercial interest would inhabit the location where Ben's Crow Inn now sits dark."
How ironic.

The plans look pretty decent. Nothing out of place as far as the neighborhood goes.

Ben's Crow Inn is not dark, as it is open till Sept. I don't see the problem with the homes above the green belt. Like downtown, your views are not guaranteed to last.

Ben's Crow Inn

Decision delayed after tie vote, and the Mayor told developers to come back with a new idea in a couple of months. The restaurant is still open till Sept.

The latest Design Review Meeting is this evening and has the new walkway from the Grove to Capitol Blvd on the agenda.

Modify the approval for the pedestrian walkway adjacent to the Grove Plaza. The
changes include the removal of the mural, delineation of the wall materials and
location for lighting in a C-5DDC (Central Business with Downtown Design
Review and Capitol Boulevard overlay) zone. Josh Wilson
Most of you have probably already seen this, but there is a somewhat boring rendering at this link:

Construction fans, when the new greenbelt section opens, go take a look at the massive and complex retaining walls. Especially between Fairview and Main.

Wow, I wonder if the people of Meridian who voted for this person, Ty Palmer, are proud. That smug look on his face says it all...
The mayor looks like she is having a bad hair day.

A debate over low-income housing unfolded at the July 5 Meridian City Council meeting when Councilman Ty Palmer told a developer looking to build subsidized housing in downtown Meridian to “please take your project elsewhere.”

“Frankly it horrifies me,” he said. “I love it that Boise, Garden City, Nampa, anywhere else that wants it can have it. I don’t want it here.”

More people = better proposals/development?

You don't see this on the front page of Yahoo often...

At 14th and Idaho, I believe.

Sawtooth, thanks so much for the construction photos. They're my only decent window into progress as I'm not living in Boise at the moment. AB, thanks to you as well.

Future projects!

Also, there was this little blurb about upcoming projects!!! Not necessarily new projects but at least its an update on existing plans and shows that there are agencies pursuing them.

"WHAT’S AHEAD – Among the big projects on the horizon at CCDC are the following:
downtown multi-use stadium planning; new mixed-use and parking plans in the Westside
URD; agency involvement in circulator studies; support of 8th Street corridor vision and new
main Library; and an exploration of many downtown alleyways and the potential for
innovative redesign and improved usage.
