I checked and steel or concrete futures are not traded at the mercantile exchange or CBOD, as far as I could tell.

while on the topic of futures, I think one of the coolest dirivatives out there is the weather future. You can bet on the weather!

Installing the rest of the retaining walls.

It looks like the dug out area to the back of the photo is where they might
have a crane rise from... or it's a test of some kind?

More photos under highrises.

The Biz Journal article mentions that work on the 15' foundation began within the last few days and will last more than a month. Is that what we're seeing in these photos?

I think that spot is where the tower crane will be sitting. I saw them do
the same thing over at 621CM. I doubt they will get the foundation
done in one month... I think it will take a month to dig out around all the
piles before they install rebar and pour the concete.

Ya never know with these projects

Yeah that's a huge vote of confidence...

But as I've said time and again, having Cal Pers investing in this project has paid off big time for Saca..

I also have to agree with Mike that by the time the Towers finish construction the housing market will be in warming up again and potential buyers will have something concrete to look at (no pun intended)..

Still having half nearly half the units sold prior to the even going up is pretty impressive.

well the orange paint is a tad crazy, but as much as i love mikes photos, angles, lighting, i do know from editing photos that the saturation, exposure and tint have been tweaked to ehance the photos to give them amazing color and contrast, in reality i doubt its that orange in person, but makes for a colorful beautiful pic.

are you adjusting in photoshop, on my mac, i can adjust photos like that in i-photo but i wanna learn to use photoshop more, i have the full program along with image ready but haven't played with it very much yet?

Yes! Not just something they can look at but something they can move into.
Two years is a long wait for even the most enthusiastic buyer.

True...

Renderings are nice, but many people want to see the finished product, before coughing up a small fortune.

This reminds me...does anyone have an update on how sales are going at 500N? That's the only "finished product" highrise available in Downtown/Midtown now.

I think it's been 5 or 6 months since the Bee wrote that 500N sales were off to a slow start and I haven't heard a word since. Have sales picked up? They're doing a lot of marketing and I think some of their print ads are pretty good.

When I was driving into SF the other day I noticed that Bovis is also the contractor for One Rincon Hill.. Bovis must be appealing to two of the tallest residential towers in California being built...

According to n2cranes who works on the job site, this concrete slab is
where the first tower crane will rise ... I was right.

Your usually right on the money in regards to these projects. But wont they be using two cranes for this project??? Where's the second slab?

^ I think the second slab is by the 3rd and L Street corner. They were doing
some digging over there last week.

It looks like they've set up the "encasement" or wood frame for the tower crane slab on Capitol Mall.

Great. Could you see anything looking like a crane slab for Tower 1?

Lastest towers newsletter states that 47 remain in Phase 4. Which was the same as the last update. Very interesting
