Event Center & Food Truck Park:
The opening date for the first phase of this project is July 2024 and it will be modeled after food truck parks the developer has seen in Florida and Colorado. Capacity could reach 20 food trucks, with some on a rotating schedule and others as permanent vendors. The developer will add picnic tables, live music, movies, a beer garden, and games, such as pickleball courts. Of course we want to know more about the event space, which it seems everyone is doing these days. It will be 8,000-square-feet. It's expected to open around December 2024 and the commissary kitchen will open around February 2025. I do think an event space could do well in this project. This developer would like to work on other projects near this site, so look for future proposals.

Stock Yards Warehouse:
US Foods will renovate an existing 325,000-square-foot warehouse, next to Interstate 285, into a 220,000-square-foot facility to expand its Stock Yards private label meats division. Renovations should be complete by January or February 2026. US Foods expects to have more than twice as many employees as the previous tenant that originally built the space. This will not impact their existing operations in Charlotte, Raleigh, or locally in Winston-Salem.
ProKidney Headquarters Expansion:
Winston-Salem-based biotech company, ProKidney, has raised $140 million in a public offering. This regenerative medicine/biotech company is the fifth-largest public company in the metro area. It has a market cap of nearly $2 billion.

Corporate Headquarters Moving to Winston-Salem:
According to the local newspaper, Excel Interior Door has announced they are moving their corporate headquarters from suburban Huntsville, Alabama to Winston-Salem. They will move to a 144,000-square-foot building at Winston-Salem's Union Cross Business Park that will include their office space, distribution, and supply chain operations. They are seeking local and state incentives. CEO Mitch Sanner said, “We studied labor availability, site availability, proximity to shipping routes, and many other factors important to our expansion, and Winston-Salem consistently ranked as the ideal location.” With the addition of corporate headquarters employees, the average pay for the jobs created by this project has increased significantly.

Winston-Salem Open Tennis Facility:
The host facility of the Winston-Salem Open will add 72 fixed seats in front of the existing seating at the Harold Pollard Center. Walter Robbs is the architect and I.L. Long Construction is the general contractor for this project.

City Council passed a resolution that set aside land for the Peter Oliver Pavilion Gallery. This is a first of its kind outdoor park space in Winston-Salem.

Their 1950s "Winston-Salem Sound" became the R&B sound of the 50s and heavily influenced music in the 60s and 70s as well. Yes, artists covered their hits even in the 60s and 70s. Music historians and members of other bands fought to have the “5” Royales inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Hollywood Reporter - Best Drama Schools:
Winston-Salem's UNCSA School of Drama is ranked third, behind The Juilliard School and Yale, on the Hollywood Reporter's list of the World's Top-25 Best Drama Schools. The publication spoke of the program's emphasis on diversity and cited their work with trans and non-binary performers.
