Stumbled across this proposed condo building at 1585 Tchoup. Looks like a RozasWard design.

I think those condos are ugly! I hope those don't get built.

The design could be improved for sure, but "ugly" is a little strong in my opinion. It's drab and unimaginative, but it looks like an early rendering. In any case, it's certainly a step up from the concrete factory that's there now. Making that stretch of Tchoupitoulas more approachable through residential living will do wonders for the future of the Convention Center's proposal for all those nearby empty lots.

this is a simple design for sure but could be decent if correct materials and decent lighting and landscaping is used. hows the ground floor look? Glad to see it include retail space.

Imassuming the building will need some remediation of the project location considering what it is at the moment.

I posted pics from inside the jung on my tumblr . The soace itself is beautiful but the overall decorations might be some of the worst choices ive seen made . I just dont get it ... but id like to hear others thoughts... obviously the place isnt finished yet but you can get somewhat an idea of the finished product

I think it has a lot of potential. Maybe adding some plants or something to take it away from a "sterile" type look they currently have.

the restaurant which seems to be the only space "finished" is not really what I have chosen but it at least looks like a cohesive design the rest is just weird so far... but at least the raw space looks good so they can always trash the decor in the other areas and start over...also that wood tile ? why? with all that beautiful marble do you choose that around the bar..

I’m very put off by the exterior of the convention space on Canal. I was thinking maybe they will have some sort of creative signage for the retail below (most likely not considering the city’s sign permitting process), or maybe they would install something to cover it up. Reminds me of those beautiful buildings on upper Canal with the third world retail on the bottom floor with the metal panels over the facade of the four upper floors. It would look better covered in tacky Vegas-style video boards or a strip club advertisement IMO.

As for the interior, major letdown.

Anybody hear what could be holding up the Canopy by Hilton renovation for the Oil and Gas Building?
