Any more news on these posts from SoaringBadger (who makes great videos btw!)?

This could be very exciting...

i may be alone on this but if that is a real design proposal i must have died and gone to heaven. it's what i imagined the future looking like as a kid.

It's like Trump, Vista, and Nema had a very tall baby. I love the original design but this is hard to argue with. Need more info asap!

I like it but think it would look even better without the spire

But then how can we call it the new Chicago Spire if it doesn't have a spire?

This design can be a very big hit-or-miss depending on the type of glass they use. My dream would be for it to be cladded dark glass, similar to Sears Tower but a light shade. Also, if this proposal is real, the observatory view is looking over the Aon Center. Add in the spire, and this could be a new city tallest.

This looks to be nearly 600m to the spire (almost 3x Lakepoint Tower).

This just looks like a design alt of the behance link posted several pages back. The exterior is different, but shares a similar language. The interiors look the same.

It doesn't look like anything more than an exploration.

-No podium (kinda hard to tell though)
-Looks like it could have still been designed by SOM even though it is quite different from the original
-The aerials definitely aren't recent... missing quite a few buildings (potential sign its from the original design competition)

If they are paying soaringbadger thousands of dollars to do aerial shots I think it's probably more than just an exploration. This is most likely the revised design.

There is nothing that suggests this is new. If this design or a version of this design was part of the proposal group they would have had to license the images.

The fact that the media company is the one sharing this image is also pretty big indicator. When you license images for marketing purposes, particularly if it's commissioned or better than your run of the mill stock photography, you have exclusivity conditions. Soaringbadger sharing this is much more suggestive that it is a dead proposal. Otherwise they would most certainly be in breach of a licensing agreement.

Thousands of dollars is pocket change when your dealing with a billion dollar project!

I suppose we will just have to wait and see when they announce the revised plans. I actually hope it's not this...

I agree. Not a fan of this design.

Once again I did love the original design and we're all entitled to our opinions but this rendering has everything. Mega-tall height, spire, bundled tube design, glass, setbacks, character, etc. I can't imagine it getting much better than this.

If this is some random teaser then that would be a total shame.

I instantly thought of that one combined with Landmark 81 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Also, from what I heard from my engineering sources, they really wanted to leverage the hole as much as possible. Maybe that's why the design might be just 1 tower?

Why is there a thought that this is an actual updated design?

Highly doubt this is anything. When have we ever had a third party group leak something like this? It would be a pretty astronomical screw up by them to do that and breach trust of a firm like SOM. Insider leaks? Yeah, but not a social media page like this
