It wouldn't make any sense to move on from the arena downtown for another 50+ years.

The building is modern, it's the right size for this city, the location is perfect and most of all, it's paid for!

To replace it would be a billion dollar project (today) - ain't no one got that kind of money around here.

Anyone else notice the FOR SALE sign at the old St Regis Site on Smith. I hear they are wanting $12.5MM. Doesnt centerventure have the right to buy this property back for $xx(assuming this number is significantly less than 12.5MM) if no construction has started within 1.5 years of purchase?

Was this the lot where they wanted to build a multi-level parkade?

Interesting, especially this part: A prospective Purchaser will need to enter into a development agreement with CentreVenture, the current Development Agreement is available but open to negotiation.

I wonder how much of a change “10025294 Manitoba Ltd.” tried to negotiate to their agreement, if any? I remember the original plan seemed to call for a large residential building (the renders of which caused much distress and vomiting noises among this group), then they tried to just have a parkade (perhaps their original plan)?

The brochure lists two development options:

I feel like it looks better than the original concepts floated. That's one hell of a parkade. The residential looks a lot like 300 Main. Could be neat if there were dueling Trons in the skyline.

That might be the nicest parkade I've ever seen.
It looks more like an office building than anything else

How tall is that tower? 40 stories? I dig it.

The “Ellice Buy and Sell” (at Arlington and Ellice) has been bought and sold…again! 3rd time in 6 years I believe. Maybe someday something will happen there.

At this point it’s Bunty’s ruling the corner. Wonder which of the 3 vacant corner lots will become something first? Small things to wonder in this currently-fucked-up world.

Oh wow. I never thought I'd see these renderings pop up ever again. They were in here over a year ago.. albeit these ones look a bit better. The old renders had a giant flat white "hat" on top of the residential that I think a lot of us didn't like.

seeing this come to fruition would be cool as hell but theres still a lot of design changes i'd make personally.. that white fin on the top also makes this look like 300 main's long lost brother.

Given that the site is up for sale for some crazy amount of money is a pretty good sign that this will not be coming to fruition. Hopefully those renderings didn't cost $12.5 million.

^Thanks for the photo. Just drove by here yesterday and was marvelling at how big it is. Really changes the look of that intersection. More of these in other shopping mall parking lots along major transit routes would really do wonders to densify the city.
