Hopefully all this effort will help improve the conditions in the area for everyone. The benches out front of Main St Project are party central in the summer, especially overnight. Place is rocking with activity.

^ they can build the Taj Mahal there and it won't improve anything unless plans and efforts are in place to clean this area of garbage etc. multiple times a day. The Main Street Project needs to do more than just provide a pretty picture - as the reality on the streets is not remotely attractive, or safe.

Their current facility was the final nail in the coffin for the Manwin, and they also levelled a fairly frivolous lawsuit their way for good measure (recently in the news). Maybe they are hoping to purchase that building to expand their facility.

Is this project still happening? I haven't heard anything about it in two years. Last I heard about it was this news article:

That's what I mean though. The whole point of constructing new buildings, closing dump hotels, removing encampments (which goes hand in hand with new places for said people to live), is intended to help all those people hanging out on the sidewalk at 4am out of their minds. Hopefully all this effort does actually bear fruit in the coming months and years.

New WFPS Station 9 in Windsor Park is almost complete.

https://cibinel.com/project/wfps-station-9/

Some of the very latest construction photos are in the slides, which is hard to see the navigation arrows with the first background image, but it's there.

The red tile work at the front facing Autumnwood looks great.

So on the subject of Winnipeg Construction, I noticed a "Sold" sign on 624 Balmoral. It had been for sale for at least the last year. Seems it's zoned for multi-family residential. Anyone know about any concrete plans for that spot?

Yes, they do, and it's friggin sick!!

I keep forgetting to take pics every time I go by there. I'll have to get out of my car and walk by.

Even the angled triangle towered cookie-cutter ones from the 90's (Redwood and McGregor, one in Leila North, and at least another one on Archibald/Watt off of Nairn) are the same.

I guess it goes the same for ALL of the police stations across the city with the very similarly designed district stations. You can call it cookie cutter, even.

What are prospects of jets building a new arena next to the convention center and converting the mts center into high rise rose condo hotel buildings in the next 10 years?

Slim to none. There isn't an emergency situation where we need to build a replacement arena.

Saddledome in Calgary is getting replaced right now, and it's a 43 year-old facility. CLC opened in November 2004, which was literally 20 years ago.

I don't expect CLC being replaced in at least another 20 to 25 years.

The Jets will be fine.
