I don't think that's Azure on the park?

EDIT: Nevermind, got Azure and Alta at the park mixed up. That's going to be such a massive project.

New Development called AMLI West Town slated for West Midtown by Huff Road and the potential Waterworks Park. Planned to achieve the new LEED-ND (neighborhood development) program.

^Wow, what a massive development. The Beltline trail through that area needs to be built ASAP.

That AMLI West Town is VERY old. I did the zoning for it. The project died years ago.

Seems to far removed from any meaningful walkable neighborhoods anyway...not a fan of random developments in random far off areas that would take decades before it connects to the central core city. Rather see something like that closer like West Midtown or one of the Eastern neighborhoods or even Home Park.

That is West Midtown. Are you confusing the Waterworks Park with the Reservoir Park? That AMLI development would have been around White Provisions on Howell Mill.

Even short distances can be difficult to walk with that abysmal infrastructure, though... hopefully the city will finally put some money into that area with all the new development going on.

Based on google maps, it seemed pretty far from the West midtown area.

Yeah, with all those train tracks over there, connectivity is really just awful. If West Midtown keeps growing the way it is, traffic is gonna be worse there than buckhead. It really forces almost all traffic onto 14th street / howell mill / huff. There's no way all those single-lane roads are going to handle all this traffic.

Perhaps traffic will come to a nexus where it forces a need for transit alternatives in this area sooner than later. The areas behind the AMLI West Town project are slated to be right along the BeltLine transit ROW....

Also there were talks thrown around about a possible future streetcar/light rail extension from the North Avenue/Luckie Street (or even 10th Street) lines that connect to Midtown/Downtown to West Midtown/Westside.

problem is that this area of the beltline will take the longest to figure out due to the railroads themselves. i feel they are going to have to figure out the trail and street car component without putting it on the existing rail tracks. are CSX/Northfolk Southern really going to give up that much capacity in this area?

I do think West Town / Bland Town redevelopment needs to move forward. it might not be the most walkable neighborhood, but i frequent the restaurants at Ellsworth / Huff all the time. it can become a walkable neighborhood! There is room i think for Huff to be widened if needed and to put in apartments and retail all the way up Huff to the Waterworks park and north into the industrial / abandoned areas AKA Bland Town. the area has tons of potential but a long way to go.

I believe the bond referendum does address updates to Huff Road, Howell Mill Road, 14th street, 10th Street, and Marietta Street/ Marietta Blvds to provide for "complete streets" redesigns as well as interchange re-configurations/realignments. Howell Mill is supposed to have a road diet to provide a turning lane - which is a huge reason for many of the back-ups down Howell Mill currently at Westside Provisions/Huff Road area. Density will come along Huff Road as well in light of the plans for Waterworks AND the Bellwood Quarry sites.

once Bellwood Quarry AKA Westside Reservoir Park looks to be imminent ( like construction on the reservoir and park begins for instance ) that area is just going to explode with development. the entire east side of West Marietta bordering the train yard should see some interesting development ideas.. and of course the whole Blandtown/Huff Road corridor. I am hoping i can snag a house in Knight Park/Howell Station in the next few years because home values there are going to go through the roof... will probably see a ton of new home construction and tear-downs of older ones there too. The Beltline is creeping up that way.. this new Westside expansion takes it up to Washington Park if im not mistaken.. just a mile and a half to the south

Will there be any retail? Would be nice if more retail was along the park.

Also Modera Morningside is turning out really nice, which is surprising given the developer of it

^I'm not sure what that video is, but it's 9 months old and the renderings don't include the Crum and Forster facade (and aren't even in Atlanta - there's an ocean in the background). I think it's just a generic example from the company showing how their "iTwo" process works.
