And if the digging at the Modera site is the beginning of construction, the 10th through 8th Spring/West Peachtree corridor will be incredible in another year.

Probably just soil testing; Don't think they can start construction till the disturbance permit at least is issued

Glad to see the ace midtown is getting an actual sign. I was worried those ratchet little tarp signs were gonna be permanent.

They've done a heck of a lot of digging for soil testing (admittedly, I am no expert). I walked past it the other night and couldn't even see the bottom of the hole dug (tried shinning my flash light app). I could hear what sounded like rapidly moving storm water. Maybe they are testing something with the storm drain?

Only at the DRC meeting. I should have taken a picture of the screen like I usually do... This is one of the current proposals I'm most excited about. I love that Midtown is finally getting some width to it, instead of everything being on Peachtree.

According to local OP ED blog, The Sapota Report, Fort McPherson’s redevelopment authority won a $60,000 ARC planning grant to promote revitalization in areas near the fort.The report also noted some of the salient features of the redevelopment plan:

•“ Tyler Perry plans to invest more than $100 million in the development of a new film and television studio once he purchases 330 acres at Fort McPherson. This promises to catalyze investment in the 144-acre balance of the property and in the surrounding community"

•“ The redevelopment will include commercial mixed use redevelopment, featuring retail such as home improvement, home goods, apparel , grocers and restaurants, as well as loft office space, medical office buildings, and medium density residential. We expect this redevelopment to serve as catalyst for transit oriented development at Oakland City MARTA station and for residential development throughout the Oakland/Lakewood LCI.

•“A featured attraction will be a public plaza at the center of a network of multi-use trails that loop the entire property and connect via a new pedestrian bridge to the redeveloping neighborhoods and potential new developments east of Lee Street and the MARTA/CSX lines. The trails will ultimately connect to the Atlanta BeltLine just one mile to the north.”

Post Millennium Midtown filed permits for the new construction today; The land dev permit is mostly approved. This might be the next to break ground?

It is really mindboggling to have so many residential buildings being built in such small part of Midtown. The neighborhood from 5th Street to 15th Street will gain 1000s of new residents in the next few years.

So Underground developers is going to destroy the 1-2 story buildings on Alabama? I'm not sure if I like that....can they maybe keep the facade of the buildings? Atlanta already struggles with keeping historic buildings. Just don't think we can afford to continue to destroy.

The only building that is actually worth saving between Peachtree and Prior " The Connally Building" is being kept the rest were actually built during the last underground refresh to give it a more authentic feel and the pretty building at Pryor and Alabama is also being kept. The only things being torn down are the buildings built to make the current underground.

The original "historic" buildings on Alabama Street are actually underneath (at grade level). Most of the buildings mentioned to be replaced were newer retail buildings on the viaduct level of the project.
