To be honest, I think it might take another 2 years to finish, we could be looking at a 2017 end date which would mean start to finish almost or more than 6 years to complete.

July 2011 -? 2017 (One Bloor East)
One Bloor is at 41 floors now.

Man, I can't even imagine this thing with 35 more floors. It will truly dominate the Yorkville Skyline. And a further round of gentrification and development will soon follow its completion.

Yorkville will also have the second tallest skyline in Canada at top off.

It is possible Edmonton will have two towers over 200m completed in 2018 if Delta Hotel Tower is 62 floors as rumoured (even at residential heights with main lobby and sky lobby.)

Eye opener #1: Calgary will be at 7 200m+ buildings if both Telus and Oxford go up. Toronto was at 7 such buildings as recently as 2009.
Eye opener #2: If Toronto's 200m+ proposals get built the city will have 40 200m+ buildings. New York was at 40 such buildings as recently as 1999.

Within 8 years that triples to 21.

I had to edit above.

It's a good thing we're growing so fast as we've got a super charged rival emerging out west. And who'd a thought Toronto is potentially within reach of New York's 1999 total.

Fascinating fact, thanks for sharing. It may sound strange to some, but I was seriously contemplating a permanent move to Chicago as recently as 2006, the building boom since then really changed the culture and mentality of this city-region for the better (not to mention the more interesting urban buzz). I'm much more invested and committed to the Toronto region as a result and have worked actively to make this the hometown and base for my family so that they too may get invested in the future and success of this city.

Odds are not all will be built or built to current specifications. Anything aside from never is being extremely optimistic. Of course, Toronto will get to 40 someday and Calgary will get passed 7.

Yeah, but over the course of 20 years you figure another 20 to 40 - 200 meter plus proposals.

There have been about 50 proposals 200 metres+ in just the past 10 years alone. Of that number, 15 have been cancelled, 8 built, 8 now U/C and 19 still proposed.

I'd just love to see Calgary get to ten before hitting 1.5 million in the municipality/1.8 million in the metro. That would be some kind of record? Probably not still would be awesome though.

I still always hate that Bankers Hall are only 197 meters tall. Two twins, so close to the mark but just off! Buzz kill!

However, with Telus Sky only weeks from beginning excavation, five towers over 200 meters is still great. Hell, any city our size would be super lucky to have even two buildings as tall as Bankers Hall especially considering we've had them for a long time now. Excited to see what new mega-awesome-proposals we see when the next boom hits, we got Brookfield Place and Telus Sky in the one that just ended, and The Bow and Eighth Avenue Place in the one before that! The future is bright

A quick sketch of what is should look like approximately in the skyline.

I used to top of Aura as a measuring point - there's a 15m height difference between the two, however, Yonge and Bloor is at a higher level in relation to Yonge and Gerrard - whether it's 15m or not is another point - but it's roughly correct.

If it ends up looking that tall, that will be ridiculous.

Ridiculously Tall.

I think you have it way too tall. By about 50m or more.

Probably another 25 proposed in less than five years if things continue clicking. Who knows about 20 years from now. A whole decade could go by without even one proposed.

Mirvish, One Yonge and the four office towers equal 11 of the 19 still proposed. Even half of those being built as planned would be an accomplishment.

I think that's fairly accurate.

If we included ground elevation, the tallest buildings in the city relative to FCP would be:

1. 298m FCP
2. 287m One Bloor
3. 282m Aura

It's too tall... you have to look at the nearby towers, and it appears to be 2X as tall as 44 Charles W, which would make it over 320M... In that photo Aura is much closer to the camera than 1 Bloor. All the towers in Yorkville, including 1 Bloor, will appear shorter because of their apparent distance from the camera. You can't base the height of a distant object by the height of a nearby object. You can't use Aura as a reference.
