2006:

But I still agree with your point, statistical inaccuracy just rubs me the wrong way.

On a side note, Vancouver should reach 60% the population of Montreal for the 2011 census. Montreal should be about 4 mil, Vancouver about 2.4 mil.

Just wondering will the patio go back?
Since the sidewalk is pretty narrow, I dont think there would be enough space for high foot traffic.

Stats Can had it at 2,328,000 as of July 1, 2009:
http://www40.statcan.gc.ca/l01/cst01/DEMO05A-eng.htm

Based on recent growth rates it is guaranteed that we will surpass 2.4 mil this year.

Not too fond of the entire building. 3 Harbour Green just blows it out of the water in every way, from the glazing arrangement, detailing of vents, architectural clarity/simplicity/quality of materials, etc... precast, seriously?

And the podium screams design-by-committee

Surprisingly not too huge of a price difference between Georgia and 3HG (what's a million here or there when you're at that range anyways), either *_*

I'm sure they'll be quite nice inside

I think that this tower is going to add a dynamism to downtown Vancouver that is has never known before, whether you're keen on the actual design or not. I'm looking forward to COMPLETION DAY ... when everything is up and running, lights switched on, etc ....

Agree! While a lot of people were disappointed by the loss of the 'Crystal' design, I think this one's a bit of a sleeper that will surprise even the biggest critics once it's all said and done. When I first saw the render of this one, I was pleasantly surprised. Seeing it come alive now is quite exciting.

I know someone mentioned it before, but I almost feel like the loss of the Crystal was a blessing in disguise and I seriously challenge how nice that one would have actually looked in real life if it had come to fruition.

The "Crystal" looked very dreamy, but I also wonder how it would have looked. Something tells me it might have "clashed" with the surrounding buildings, whereas this one is more in keeping (colour of glass, esp) with its neighbours.

Based on an average sale price of $1,900 per sq ft, 3 Harbour Green should (in theory) have the best design and exterior finishing materials of any highrise in Vancouver's history, even when factoring in land cost...

Hotel Georgia, in contrast, was selling at an average of $1,450 per sq ft, currently half the units remain unsold and none are selling...

Generally speaking, as the tower is nearer to completion, it looks pretty much as expected, for better or worse...
