^Yes - great shot.
That building U/C on the right seems to have similar facade treatment to the now defunct Stephen Avenue Quarter project in Calgary.

Good concept, poorly executed.

Those Hamilton twins looks pretty decent.

Here's some video I shot of Edmonton last week.

Great drone video! thank goodness for the ice district.. b/c Edmonton's skyline otherwise, strictly from an architectural point of view is very bland.. the spaces between buildings... so spread out.. just the finishes of the buildings.. definitely show their age. The ice District has improved the skyline aesthetic tremendously...but it could use another signature tower.

The Ice District has certainly helped the city's skyline and the arena is a beautiful buildings. Outside of that, Edmonton is bland which is kind of surprising when you consider it's a capitol city.

Edmonton is weird. The downtown/Oliver actually has some decent density but both are as dead as doorknob. The buildings are set back too far, have very little retail at their base, are affronted by parking spots, and intermingled by parking lots. It's an incredibly pedestrian unfriendly downtown. Proof positive that it takes more than density to create a vibrant neighbourhood.

Echoes, love me some Saskatoon in the (almost) summer time

I can't believe the twin tower Hamilton residential doesn't get any love or comments.

It's gotten some. But outside of the city-dwellers/supporters, I imagine there are those who just see it as just another "generic" development.

It is, however, a big deal and a positive for downtown Hamilton.

I can only dream of St. Catharines getting such a dense, high quality development. Even Buffalo isn't building new residential towers like Hamilton's ~$160M Cobalt/King William Urban Rentals project.

I think St. Catharines will have these, and end up being quite a great place to be and live. It already is, in many respects.

Nice Edmonton drone video giallo - the view from across the river is the most complimentary of the city, whereas the backside with the empty lots not so much. Every city has their good and bad sides.. or less good side.

Echoes - stop teasing us! Although I'll take one sunny Saskatoon pic over none

I like that Hamilton development, but not sure about the podium. Maybe it just needs time to age/patina. The angle of the pic doesn't help as I can't fully see it, but it looks a bit too plasticy/lego blocky if that makes sense. Not sure the colours work, they're a bit unnatural for the style, and one could almost imagine the podium is actually a parking garage by the dark inset patios. The surrounding area and landscape looks interesting though, likely quite photogenic!

It was an attempt to "blend" with the historical structures in the area. Originally there was a department store on that block, which later became a bingo hall and fell into disrepair.

The old building was supposedly not salvageable, though some people think that was a line of BS. Here's a news story that gets into the history.

The podium is not all parking (I believe much of the parking is below; some may be internal above ground) but it will be interesting to see what retail/commercial activities fill it at street level.

People were raving about it in the construction thread a little while ago.

Still not seeing all this "quality" you guys are seeing though. Looks like pretty much any tower complex in the suburban GTA.
