Description
The applicant is appealing a fire damaged vacant four story masonry building with large open floors on all four levels. Prior to the fire in 2016, the commercial space was accessed from Canal Street at grade level. A side door and corridor at this level accessed stairs for all upper floors and an elevator from the second level to the third and fourth level. The scope of the project is to repair the first level commercial space which encompasses the entire footprint on the first level by restoring the collapsed roof at the rear of the prooperty. The applicant is converting floors 2,3, and 4 to residential units. The existing shell would house 2 units per floor with a new addition wing which would house one additional unit for a total of 9 residential units, or three per floor.
