I wish they only streched the office section a few more stories and put the rest into the residential portion on top. It would give the building much more appealing proportions, but according to that aplication they increased the office space from 260,000sq.ft. on the first 16 floors to 342,000 total. So thats probalby 5 or 6 more floors of office space considering they have some in the podium. So the proportions would be a little better but not great.

Honestly, people pay a few hundred bucks for art all the time. Why not pay a few hundred (of the company's money) for a window to heaven that's also useful?
Looks like the 34-story, 300-unit apartment at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church site is starting. Today they started scraping a parking lot that's been earning $150,000 per year for the church. That suggests they mean business. If so, they're right on schedule.

1918 8th is the region's tallest start in 2007. The four in the 440-460' range were all in 2006 (pretty sure). Also, while we don't have a height for 1918, my guess is it's closer to 500' or possibly even right at 500'.
I don't think they've released a rendering of the Gethsemane project. No need, because it's rentals.

At the 1918 8th Ave. website it says it's 36 floors not 34.
It must be about 500 because doesn't WaMu have about the same square footage as this tower? Except this tower looks fatter!
Anyways, is there any information about the two twin towers 2301 6th Ave?

Interesting. He's right about the post office. The park looks nice in the picture. The Westin picture shows the towers behind another (nice old) building, not the westin's lifeless exterior, and the towers themselves are fine...inspiring even due to their height and 24/7 activity inside, despite being basic unadorned corncobs.
Interesting article. I agree re: the post office and KC Admin building, but would also have to disagree about the park. I just stumbled upon that park a few months ago, and I found it pretty interesting. Sure, it is not exactly peaceful given the noise, but that alone doesn't make it a bad park. I surely took a lot of interesting photos of the bridges, and if anything it is more a reminder of impressive engineering vs. any type of negative association.
Also, I definitely disagree regarding the Rainier Tower. I find it to a very interesting building, and like the whole block it is in. Teetering? Jittery? LOL, give me a break.
