I have not once in my life heard of an Indo-Canadian person being upset about the usage of "Indian" to refer to Indigenous Canadians because it's "their" term. Frankly, I never even hear Indo-Canadians refer to themselves as "Indian". I'm Punjabi, Gujarati, Bengali, etc. Never I'm "Indian". Do you think Indo-Canadians hear someone talk about the Indian Act and think, "Oh is this about me?"
Right now I think you sound like the people that went, "The Hispanic vote could never go to Trump, look at how he talks about Mexicans!"
