Great Vancouver picture. It seems even more striking than Saint John, New Brunswick, at that time - which is something I tend to think of as a more recent development for cities in the west.

Montréal avant - après
One of my friends' work. He's already done that with around 7000 pictures of Montreal from different archival collections (McCord, UdeM, City of Montreal)... He's also developed an app (similar to Paris' one). Hours of amazement looking at all those pics... Here are some showcasing Montreal's skyline. Maybe some of them have already been posted - sorry if so.

Agreed, fantastic comparisons.

The Notre-Dame one is quite sad, but a couple are improvements.

Also love that pic of Vancouver's west end in 1911, amazing how nothing has changed!

I wish Toronto still had this stadium over on the island. also the old amusement park. I think Babe Ruth hit his first professional home run here.

Due to the gold rushes and some west to east explorations (starting from the Pacific and following the Fraser and Columbia rivers east) the main cities in BC are a little older / have a little more history in general than those on the Prairies (Alberta and Saskatchewan).

I feel Manitoba is pretty even with BC for when major development started to occur.

Great series of before/after Vancouver shots that made it to the front page of Reddit Canada the other day. I just couldn't find the link until now:
