groundbreaking of FMC Tower at 11am tomorrow, Wednesday, May 14
The groundbreaking for the FMC Tower will be at 11 o'clock tomorrow morning (Wednesday,May 14th).
I heard that from the director of the ceremony. She suggested to arrive at 10:30, especially if you want some refreshments and beverages (there will be a lunch buffet after the ceremony ). Sign in will be required, but if you write a blog or something, tell them and you'll be considered press. No RSVP is necessary.

I just realized that if you put Bell Atlantic Tower and FMC together they are almost the same height. Now that is crazy! And the roof is also taller than Mellon bank's first top setback. Just a few facts while messing with sketchup.
Hell YEAH! And I hope that when it does get going, it keeps that same or a similarly asymmetrical shape. Always loved that model and the interplay of the classical lines of the two large hulks below with the soaring, modern, abstract highrises.

Korman Communities is expanding its high-end, extended stay brand to the residential component of the new FMC Tower at Cira Centre South.
Called AKA, this will be the second Philadelphia location for the Korman Communities apartment concept. The other is on Rittenhouse Square.
Brandywine Realty Trust, which is constructing the 49-story mixed-use tower, has entered into a partnership with Korman Communities to oversee the residential part of the development. The project will have 268 apartments on floors 29 through 46. Korman will initially start out with 103 furnished apartments and see if it needs to increase the number of those units at a later date.
Part of the plans include tailoring the 28th story as a full-floor amenity space that will have a business center, lounge, café, bar, golf simulator, two-tiered screening room, oversized lap pool, fitness center, and outdoor terrace with fire pits.
I believe the groundbreaking ceremony is still underway BTW people. Walked by an hour ago and it was still going on.
Good to hear. Summer? Do you know, or could you possibly find out if there's going to be a construction cam? Evo would be an ideal location to put at least one or two cameras, just trying to be helpful...

I love how this building has seemingly gained almost 80 feet in additional height in the past week or so! FMC will be just 9 feet shy of Logan 3 (BAT)!
