Omg this is going to look so good once The Independent and 5th & West go up! It excites my imagination. Even NorthShore shows up in this picture, but that will be mostly blocked from this view once 500 W 2nd is up. This really is an exciting time to be living in Austin! MEEP

I cringed a little when I read about the Urban Cowboy show. I hope they don't revisit the same old Texas stereotypes. But I don't have much hope of that happening.

Well the lead will be Mexican so we can throw out any notion of a Travolta typecast clone. It appears that the story will be based in Houston where the Urban Cowboy and Sissy take refuge at their illegal immigrant uncle's residence is. If this is the case, I imagine most of what we see of Austin will be street level shots.

If they are pretending to be in Houston at least Austin won't look bad when the show sucks.

Come on! I LIKE Alfonso Herrera! Give him a chance. Look at what he's doing in Sense8. If he can pull that one off, a Mexican Urban Cowboy should be a snap!

Never realized before how much prime property that high school is taking up. That would have been a better location for the Millennium. Downtown looks deceptively dense from that angle.

Really>???? "That High School"... is a really important public high school located Near a neighbohood it serves well. I find it really really questionable that it would be seen as expendable due to it's Pirme property. Tear down a public high school for a crappy suburban apartment building. ? Prioities man... where are your priorities.? It didn't occur to me that you may have been joking.... hopefuly you were.

And downtown is getting dense... there is no deception.

I don't think Genral was advocating that it be torn down.

I've always thought it was appropriate for the location. There's no way you could have a cozy residential neighborhood there with people zipping down Cesar Chavez fresh off of Mopac (when the traffic on it does flow). It's more likely it would be turned into a park before anything else, if Austin High were to close for some reason.

Thank you ATX...for coming to my rescue of course I wasn't suggesting such a thing. I was pointing out what a great piece of land this is with amazing views, perfect for my new home with a 100ft observation deck. But I am advocating the repurposing of another great piece of land, the spot where thr AAS sits.

Never said anything about tearing down the high school for a new developement. Just from that picture, I could imagine what could be there if it was vacant...I appreciate your passion. I mean Austin no harm...big fan here.

DT looking from the west looks tighter...no gaps, than when you look from the south where you see the true spread out of the buildings east to west along the lake. Again, just my personal observation.
Some people look at things and say "perfect" I look at things and say "what if..."

There was a time not long ago that the skyline didn't look so expansive from the south. Now it stretches across for about 3 miles.
