Does anyone know how much longer we still have before they finish driving piles? Any thoughts or guesses?

They are nearly done driving piles for the River Tower... I can't tell with the
garage and podium because they are more spread out and not packed together
like they have done with the two towers. I'd guess three more weeks?

This month's issue of Comstock's has an interesting article that should help silence the debate on the housing slowdown..it specifically deals with the Towers and the overall market slowdown. Read it.

Saca is new to high rise developement and this project has always been a struggle. Thats why he gets the most attention from the media and myself.

Did you read it in the print issue? When I go to the website, it has the Sept issue still there.

There will be an annoucement soon about the new contractor for the Towers.

It actually is amazing how with all this back and forth talk about the housing market, we have gotten away from the big picture of how big of a project this (and Aura) is for downtown Sacramento, and Sacramento in general.

I mean, jesus..who the hell would have thought something like this would have been possible 3 years ago?

In addition to two signature buildings in downtown, between the condo units and hotel, that could be over 1500-1600 well off people living, eating, shopping, and spending money in our downtown that has struggled for so many years to attract large amount of people to the area.

You know the retail space is most likey going to be leased to some higher end places that Sacramento probably hasn't seen before....and it'll house our nicest hotel. (unless you want to throw the JDV in that)

I just hope the gym fees aren't too high so I can at least get in on that action...

I can't wait...

Flaw: only one developer has backed out of a high-rise project as far as i know. i wrote the Biz Journal and asked who besides DR Horton has canceled plans... no answer

Flaw: two remaining??? last i checked there are three on J Street, one on I Street, and two on K Street. And those are just the residential and mixed-use towers.

If going from conception to construction in under two years is your idea of "struggling", then I'd like to see a lot more of these "struggling" projects here in Sacramento.

I was downtown last night and there was pile driving going on until about 8:00. We left a little before 10:00 and there was still a couple of men there cutting off the tops of the piles that were sticking up.

It seeems they start around 7am so 2 shifts of 8 hrs goes to about 11....

although the 230-330 hour is just switching shifts

also with the rain just showing its face, they need to finish and they may actually pull that part off......since there seems to be no more piles being stockpiled unless that is just due to space limitations.....

When do the other contractors start arriving????....this seems to be almost entirely the piling contractor!
