Nice shot--hopefully we can expect it to rise at a frightenly fast pace again now that the core reconfiguration is coming (has come?) to an end.

From a SSC post, the core would feature four sets backs, this is just the first one.

the building reminds me of the WTC construction with the trusses, but instead of steel framing they are using concrete, maby because of what happend to the WTC

Honestly, I'm finding this building fairly boring compared to Jin Mao

It's a basic glass slab (which I've seen basically every variation of already) right next to the most overarticulated facade in modern architecture. SWFC is all about massing, the details are (as they've always been) utterly lacking.

Just ask yourself, if the building topped out is it is, and the facade was finished up to the top. Would you really find this building interesting? I highly doubt it. Until it breaks 1,400 feet and has its hole, this building is blah.

I agree about the facade of Jin Mao; you have to be close to it to appreciate the facade details - from a distance it looks a bit 'messed up'.

What about the tapering shape of SWFC? It's not just a tall building with a hole, in my opinion - even without the hole, it would still have it's unique shape.
My intentions are not to start a flame-war, or go off-topic, but you have the Sears Tower as avatar - would people, even in the US, have any idea what building it was if it weren't super tall?

The boldness of this tower will make it very intimidating when completed, even more than the Burj Dubai in my opinion. To me this is what a supertall skyscraper should be.

I agree, its really not that impressive. If the cross-braceing actually appeared like the renderings, it would look way more intresting.

ya they should've emphasized the cross bracings and outer frame instead of covering up the entire building with reflective glass. it looks like another boring box.
