The two host thing may come to pass but I'll wait for a more credible source than a former Sportsnet guy if I have that correct.

It really concerns me why such a large number of people were actively campaigning against Edmonton for no logical reason. Edmonton has been the best city in Canada by far for the NT over the years (and I reside nowhere near Edmonton)

We don't know for sure yet but CityNews (unless they haven't done their due diligence) might be a good source. Otherwise they'll look pretty bad.

I'm a Vancouver fan of course but why can't Canada have 3 host cities? Is Mexico only getting 2 as well?

Hotels, transit and air connections were always going to be a challenge for Edmonton, but it felt like FIFA was sold after November.

Will be curious to see what happens.

I read that it was down to Edmonton versus other American cities not Ed vs Van.
And maybe only Mexico City in Mexico.

I have yet to be told exactly why Edmonton can host Commonwealth Games and the IAAF World Championships (one of the largest world sporting events) and not be able to host four? teams in a WC.

If there was an issue with linking with a US city, why was Edmonton even considered in the first place. Vancouver left the competition and was allowed to come back, like the IOC, FIFA is as f'n corrupt as they come. That's why I always laugh when people state FIFA "rules" about competitions. Give them enough money and you could play at the test field for Vesey's Seeds in York PEI.

Probably much less about our hosting history and much more about ratings, dollars, market targeting etc.

One report said Commonwealth would need huge renos to make it a modern soccer stadium.
And that other US markets with better stadiums were preferred.

I heard that from one place and yet it is never specific as to what is needed. The stadium is well maintained and has had major renos. It's a sham.

Canada 4 Curacao 0

Canada dominates, stated attendance 17k. Two knobs tie themselves to the Curacao goalposts. I could actually watch them on the TV going towards the goal. Normally I don't like to criticize something like security because it's not an easy job with thousands of people but in this case it was an epic fail. Slow response, well, basically no response until the deed was done. Curacao goalie should have taken some free shots.

Honduras 2 Canada 1

Remember when you were a kid and wearing rubber boots when it rained and you would drag the boots in a big puddle to make big waves, that's what this game was.

The Hondruran Concacafing (cheating) was worse than normal, there were six minutes added on to the end of the game and they might have actually played 90 secs.

Lots of yellow cards (and one red) given to the Canadians (7 to Canada, 2 to Honduras) the only saving grace was that nobody was hurt. Hopefully a lesson learned and fuel for the fire.
