My Spring photo thread of Our City is on deck.

I have posted a Garden Valley/Crouch/Payette River thread over in the city photo forum.

Boise aerials

Someone posted a nice aerial Boise video. Notable because the video is very fresh - some nice shots of current downtown construction projects:

My brother just bought the phantom drone so we can do a ton of community videos for our real estate website. He had some fun over the weekend doing this aerial tour of downtown Boise for a test run. You can view some of the developments going on in the different shots and enjoy seeing many different angles of downtown

Are these NIMBY's justified? I'm all for infill, but that wooded natural area is kind of nice....
Sadly those trees on that patch of land have seen better days.

I might get crucified for saying this, but I'm actually warming to the idea of a Hyatt Place there. I guess I started to change my mind when I stayed at the one at the east end of Pearl St in Boulder in May. The chain itself very much aims to cultivate an urban vibe. So, it's not a 10 story luxury hotel with retail on the first and second floor. But, it's better than the surface lot that was there before. Also, on the same lot on the one in Boulder is a 4 story apartment building (seen in online pic below):

Gardner doing some design changes to passage way between Grove Hotel, Century Link Arena and City Center. It is on July 13th Design Review agenda.

Mural of foothills gone from Grove Hotel, and neon lighting on City Center side:

A little curious as well insofar as the Idaho Stampede no longer exist. You'd think they would have made a quick mod to the renderings.

it's a shame about the murals being canceled and not replaced. i was hoping the bland tan wall on the grove would be covered into something more appealing.

i wondered about that myself. the pyramid wasn't in the landscaping plan, either (unless that's the "water feature" they mentioned in the earlier plans).

hope they don't lose too much more green space. i really liked how the original plan included a lot of grass and trees.

Pro soccer in Boise: ‘We have all the right people in our corner already’

Looks like the USL wants to have a soccer team playing in Boise in time for the 2018 season (which starts in Spring). They require a stadium that can seat at least 5,000 people though, so it'll be interesting to see where that will come from. Hopefully they choose Downtown over the other two prospective locations too.
