Agreed -- it should be roughly 1.5x the height of Riverbend, which peers through the balconies of Marina City in that shot, right? Maybe this is a rendering strategy to make B. Reilly think the building is runty enough for his stunted vision of the downtown skyline.

^^^ The building that peers through Marina City in the rendering is not RiverBend. That building is actually the Left Bank at K Station. The Left Bank is 365' high.

River Point is supposed to be 650' high.

The Left Bank is right across Canal Street from the north portion of the River Point parcel (where the boutique hotel, now removed from the plan, originally was going to be located). RiverBend is further north and not in the rendering.

650/365 = 1.77. So, River Point should look 77% taller than the building that appears next to it. It doesn't. The perspective in the rendering makes River Point look shorter than it will be. I don't think it has anything to do with Reilly's skyline vision for Downtown.

look closer. left bank is there, and then even further to the right through marina city's balconies you can clearly see the extreme southern edge of riverbend.

You are correct.

RiverBend is 451' high. River Point will be 44% higher than RiverBend.

The perspective of the River Point building is still way off. So, River Point will be an even taller beautiful presence on the west bank of the river.

If you'd like to experiment with the heights yourself I found an at-home River Point model kit. Fun for the whole family!

I know it's not a great Photoshop job (nor is it meant to be), but still... this looks pretty cool. I just hope River Point stays not-blue and Pelli's Wolf Point towers get seriously modified...
