Yes there is a proposed "future leasable space" on the site plan.

If you click on the project image on Liveable Buckhead's website it shows you the PDF of the deliverables.

Ponce City Market reveals 13 new retail tenants.

( Goorin Brothers Hat Shop )

Atlanta developer Jamestown has revealed 13 retail tenants for Ponce City Market, the massive redevelopment of the former Sears building in the Old Fourth Ward. The list includes first-to-market retailers including The Frye Company, which produces leather boots and accessories. It also includes new locations of popular shops such as Madewell and Anthropologie. "As with the Central Food Hall, Ponce City Market's retail space serves as a vital component of the entire Ponce City Market experience," Michael Phillips, president of Jamestown, said in an announcement. "Our careful selection process has allowed us to introduce a number of the fashion industry's leading brands to Atlantans including The Frye Company and The Jean Machine( based in London), and, in turn, design an unparalleled shopping experience that does not currently exist in the city."
The stores should start opening in spring 2015, in conjunction with the Central Food Hall.

File this under Rumor
I spoke with someone who is a rather large developer and he told me a 400 - 600 apartment tower will replace this 2 story shopping center on Peachtree.

If you are concerned about the number of apartments announced and in development, look at the historical data

I think the reason activity feels so high is that this time around the majority of the development is concentrated in urban areas vs. the suburbs in previous upswings.

Mercedes-Benz to invest $100M in Atlanta headquarters.

According to a report(s) in the Atlanta Business, Mercedes-Benz USA will relocate its headquarters to Atlanta this summer — a move that will create about 1,000 jobs -and will invest about $100 million in a more than 200,000-square-foot build-to-suit headquarters. The company is eyeing four sites in the Central Perimeter and Alpharetta, Ga."Atlanta won (the project) because of its lower cost and the ability to retain and recruit talent {and}Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport has more direct flights to Germany than any other airport in the United States", said site consultant,John Boyd.Atlanta, unlike Montvale, is associated with a young and hip image that Mercedes wants to cultivate, Boyd noted.

Given Mercedes' wide ranging interest in philanthropy , fashion and the fine arts, the relocation should have a significant impact on Atlanta , beyond employment and economic development.

The Atlanta Economic Development Team is practically shitting their pants over this win. Hell - I have some skid marks over it!!! I read somewhere this is the most prestigious HQ relocation in the last decade. It also opens the door to recruit BMW USA's HQ also in NJ.

While I'll wait to pop the champagne until an official announcement is made, this is an enormous coup for the Atlanta region if it happens. Maybe as big as UPS, if not in number of jobs but clout.

I'm really hoping they go with Perimeter over Alpharetta. i'm guessing the Mercedes HQ wont haev a giant test track like the Porche HQ?

maybe theyll just takeover and build on that entire parcel across from North Park at Abernathy/400/Peachtree Dunwoody.. would be a perfect place for them right on the MARTA line

Per Atlanta Business Journal, this is now official as senior executives with MB have commented confirming the move.

I think you're right. It feels like a lot because it's all close together and you see half a dozen buildings going up within a mile of each other. I don't think there's very much going on outside the perimeter at all, and when there is it's concentrated in other downtown areas. Sprawl seems to have been mostly overlooked this cycle (at least by sites like this). I have a feeling that's going to hold true for a very long time to come... maybe I'm just biased, but I think the out-of-control sprawl we've been seeing will prove to be a 20th century phenomenon and in 50 or 100 years most people are going to look back on that and wonder why the hell anyone thought it was a good idea.

Perimeter seems like an obvious choice if the airport is one of their reasons for moving, but I wonder if the MARTA expansion would be hastened if they chose Alpharetta.

I don't think we as a society will have a choice. You're already seeing system strains in many areas as the bill for infrastructure comes due. You can't continually kick the can down the road. Even in this announced move, Mercedes mentions quality infrastructure, an educated workforce, low taxes, and a "hip" city as reasons for the move however, we're already seeing issues on how to pay to maintain, and expand, this infrastructure as well as funding education. Taxes won't remain low forever. We relied on a ponzi-scheme-like growth scheme for so long, eventually the area will mature and taxes will have to go up, or education, infrastructure, etc. will go down to the toilet.

BMW's N.A. HQ is just up the road outside Greenville SC. They moved there fairly recently (the 90s, IIRC). They're not going to move 120 miles down I-85.
