Today, more than $80 million worth of projects, including a new hotel and loft apartments, are in the works for Castleberry Hill, a small neighborhood bounded by I-20 to the south, Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to the north, Spring Street to the east and Northside Drive to the west.It's the most investment the historic community — a former industrial area that this year was named one of the 10 best art districts in the nation by USA Today — has seen since construction came to a halt during the recession.

fact, more than $250 million worth of new construction could come to Castleberry over the next few years, said Jerome Russell, president of H.J. Russell & Co., a major landowner and developer in Castleberry. "It's not quite ready ... but it's coming probably in about three years."
