It was actually pretty good! Their deep-fried dill chips with horseradish was ridiculously yummy.

Nice. I went here for the first time over the weekend for brunch (thank god I didn't have to pay! Haha.) It was damn good. Lamb sliders with these crazy sauces, one with curry and lime the other was some sorta mint thing, sweet potato fries, everything fresh and good as hell. Ooooo wee.

Yes it does. In basic, they make everyone go through a gas chamber. You put a gasmask on, then they fill the room with tear gas, and make you take off the mask, and stand there for like 30 seconds. It's pretty intense. Good way to clear your sinuses, though.

Speaking of the Blue Angels. I saw them and the Air Force Thunderbirds twice each when I was stationed at Offutt AFB. Blue Angels hands down.

Just got back from New Orleans. Totally under rated as a city, to say the least, and the nicest locals ever. It was so hot though that my sweat was running, pouring down on my camera...didn't take many photos...took the streetcars everywhere, nothing like taking a ride back from the bar as the sun comes up under that pink morning sky there. Absolutely incredible, it's like a different dimension - it's not even close to being the sunbelt (obviously). Can get very dicey very quick at it's worst - never have I ever had potential easy access to so many drugs or had my guard so far down in neighborhoods i should have not have been so drunk in...

Ran into lots of Texan transplants and visitors (I get the feeling that Texans really help carry New Orleans through it's low season right now) and several groups of St. Louisans roaming the back streets...very odd encounters...

I love when the U.S. Navy Blue Angels are in town but it's hard for me to get any work done since they're practicing and going through their moves right above my place of employment. Their big air show is this weekend but I won't need to pay since I'll be watching them from work again tomorrow. This afternoon I stood out in the parking lot after work and watched their flawless moves for about an hour. Incredible!

.....Of course it's all meaningless unless I have a nice Cabot cloth-bound chedder and an unpronounceable French wine by my side.

We have to make this a SSP meme. We must. Cabot cloth-bound cheddar, FTW.

Last time Canada's Snow Birds were in town, one of them crashed. Into a scrap yard, of course.

The pilot was fine, he ejected and ended up in a farm.

We've had your Snow Birds in town for our airshow several times. They also put on a good show.

There are a few times they flew over so low and it was so loud that it took my breath away......And there isn't a whole lot of anything anymore that can take my breath away.....Except maybe running up a flight of stairs.

I remember when I was at water survival school in Pensacola... we had to do parasailing to simulate a parachute drop, and the Blue Angels would often buzz the boat, as low to the water as possible, fairly often. It was bad ass.

That and seeing A-10 pilots train at my AFB back in the day, that was badass, too. Or watching an AC-130 in the distance lay waste to targets in Iraq. Less awesome for the cool factor but it was still definitely something to see nonetheless.

I visited UofA down in Tucson right after 9/11 and since Davis-Monthan was/is one of the big training centers for A10 pilots, they were always flying over the campus en route to DMAFB. Those constant fly-overs had to be annoying to students...

My apartment in Brooklyn is fuckin' right under the Laguardia flight path for landing. Every 5-20 minutes I get a healthy blast of jet engine noise in my room.

The air show isn't the only show in town this weekend. We've also got a motorcycle rally going on so driving is a bitch since the streets are loaded with pissed-off looking guys on Harleys not giving a shit about signs or traffic lights.
