It would add to the Georgia Canyon greatly!
Maybe throw in the demolition of the grosvener and the metal box next to it. And the numerous buildings on/near Melville!

Thanks for the pics.

Check out how close the Seymour Building and that building next to the one that used to house the Picadilly Pub.

You can really see the Georgia from many points downtown. You can see it from the skytrain on the main-stadium route. You can see it pop out from burrard and davie. You can see it from down robson.
The list goes on, I can't wait to see how it looks with glass on from these points.

Nice shots - thanks.

BTW - I think the precast on Howe may actually be darker than the precast facing the courtyard (i.e. it may not just be the lighting)

Pics by me today:

(Note: the colours on the Four Seasons is a reflection of a sticker on my camera)

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

On second thought, the precast in the courtyard and facing Howe are the same colour - I think it is the differnet lighting that makes them look different.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Note the precast with blue inset panel below each western balcony.
Looks like the western side of the south faade will have lighter blue spandrels, so there will be differnetiation between the angled facade and the flanking sections.
Some of the dark blue spandrels on the angled facade seem to be a bit off in colour, esp. when lit from the south.

Interesting to see the supports still up for the SE corner almost all the way up the building. ~30days is normal practice usually around 3-4floors. I understand each floorplan is slightly different but still fail to see why they need the supports on floors that were poured close to a full year ago on this project.

Thanks for the update OD.

The proportions of this building make it look much taller than it actually is. Especially when looking up at it as you're going up the escalator exiting the City Center station.

Thanks -

I noticed that the glass is up a couple of floors on the Georgia side - I'll bring my camera in tomorrow.

BTW - walking past, I noticed that the "sunshades" on the Howe side are not in a metallic finish - they are painted biege (ugh).

From looking at the many pictures taken of it so far, it seems to me that The Georgia, while visible on the skyline, making a definite statement, is however much more impressive seen close up.
Otherwise stated, I think it will be at its most dramatic when seen from right in the downtown neighbourhood. One might not get that feeling if looking at it from a distance. With all its color and design faults, I still think it will make a commanding addition to the CBD.
Also, when the glass is completely installed and the lights are switched on, we'll notice the color and design shortcomings less.
I look forward to its completion.
