I'd never have known that. Only after looking at the rooftop of the bldg,
based on this aerial view, can I tell its probably been setup for parking since the very beginning, directly one block south of the old May Co bldg.
I always think of parking structures as being something of the recent past, even more so when $500K was a lot of $$ for 1926. Just goes to show how autocentric LA has been since a long time ago.
And the graffiti on that bldg & the Tower theater, where some tagger stood on a small ledge, dozens of ft from the ground, to spray up the side of the theater, makes me think if such ppl put as much effort into something useful & constructive, they'd be nuclear scientists or doctors, or engineers, or something like that.
And it would be great if the old rusty looking insets on the side of the Tower theater, & the old Singer sewing machine sign on the nearby bldg, could be both cleaned up & also preserved.
