coolcanadian, great selection of Toronto shots! When I visit Toronto, I usually stay not too far from the UofT Varsity Stadium. One of my favourite areas of Toronto.

Here are some of Montréal

I think this is one of the nicest vernaculars we have in North America. Victorian density, trees and front porches. Nothing nicer than walking home and saying hello to your neighbours who are having a drink on their front porch.

I'd agree with you, although the combination of snow in winter + no off-street parking would likely be a downside for many.

Thankfully, there's an easy fix: if we razed every other one, the remaining half would have parkings

(... or maybe go all the way and take a page from Brantford's book: raze them all, no parking problems any more. )

Shot of Lower Johnson Street (LoJo) this morning with the Union finishing up on the right (other side of Union is Chinatown), cranes working on the new Johnson Street bridge crossing and the Promontory tower @ Bayview almost done (crane down).

Cool shot of Chinatown last February:

I wish it were a downside for many more. Then they wouldn't cost over a million dollars, and I would live there.

This looks a lot like the Walkerville neighbourhood in Windsor, my favourite in the city!

Really? Windsor has narrow Victorian rowhouses and semis like this? I never saw any when I was there. Which streets?

Most blocks like that have rear laneways with garages.

But even those without parking are no less desirable. Like Rousseau said, it's hard to find one for under a million dollars, unless it's in poor shape. Though there are many apartments in these sorts of buildings which may be priced at more reasonable amounts.

If that were London, or even Brooklyn, there'd be no rear lane, the backs of the houses would be closer to those opposite, and people would have proper rear gardens. Parking would be a serious problem, but then, a lot of people wouldn't care about that anyway.

Then again, having a garage for storage or a workshop is kinda cool, too.
