Wow, the Oilers dominated this game 8-1. The leafs are even more embarrassing than we thought!

What’s up with the 50/50’s up there! I know it’s from June 3-15 but this is absurd! Good chance it hits $16m here now

I feel like Florida allowed Edmonton to win this game in order to have home ice advantage for when they win the cup.

If tonight's game were in Florida, they would have won and been awarded the cup by now.

No chance any team ever passes on the chance to win the cup when they can. You may have the team owners wanting more home gates and the league obviously wants the revenue of 7 games (they already upped the salary cap next year based on the success of the playoffs). But the players are the ones on the ice and they don't care about any of that. The Panthers would rather be taking Stanley on the plane with them tonight or tomorrow or whenever and planning whatever celebration back home.

The fear will be if the Oilers dominate the next two and lose in game 7. It would be too convenient a comparable for Sportsnet not to spend every NHL allotted second to analyse.

The psychological implications of such a dominant Oiler's victory are interesting to contemplate. This is undoubtedly a huge confidence boost for the Oilers. The monkey has been removed from their collective backs. What are the implications for the Panthers? Does this inject a little bit of doubt into their swagger??? Perhaps, but these people are professionals, and they realize that a single poor performance should not define their overall effort. The Panthers still have a stranglehold on the series.

The next game in Sunrise will be the most crucial one of the entire series. If the Oilers can pull out another dominant victory, then anything could happen........

What an unreal experience.

Downtown was buzzing with lots of things going on pre-game, we took in the Moss pit, walked over to see Shania with 10000 and then took in the game in our usual seats, got on the jumbotron and heckled Bob a lot. I am definitely suppressing the totality of the cost of this run (good lord), but it's worth it. *I did buy a $120 in 50/50 tickets too.

Top 3 games of all time for me.

A period at a time boys, win a period and then win the next; we got this!

GO OILERS GO!

And what do they all have in common? They all won the Stanley Cup!

I love how there are 2 Canadian teams in that list.

I'm surprised he didn't say if "we"; meaning the Jets, were playing Florida, "we" would be leading the series.

Florida is a tough team. I think they'll be fine.

It was nice to see McDavid get the all-time playoff season assists record. I was hoping Edmonton would at least get to game 5 to give him a chance at that. While it's not an individual sport and he'd probably rather have the Cup, I think it's a nice thing with respect to the season he had this year.

But they are still playing and still have a chance.

Statistically, winning 4 in a row is doable, it’s “winning 4 in a row against an adversary so formidable and that has your number so much, that they just won 3 in a row against you” that’s really unlikely.

Which is why reverse sweeps are much less common than just sweeps …

CBC showed a stat from this season for the Oilers record after losing 3 in a row...

I still think Florida wins - but they should be terrified.
