I think they're under active investigation.

Anyone got any more info on this? ~15F development right by Pembina/Jubilee. Might deserve its own thread
There will be a 23 floor twin tower to it once this 1 has been completed. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manit...idor-1.7250555

This happened in Toronto. First a station opens and a single building goes up. Then 2 more and then BOOM!

Quick update on the leasing of the two major new residential developments downtown:

300 Main
All units are available for leasing now including top floors. There are about 125 units unleased out of the 395 units in the building.

The Bend
80 of the 207 units are currently unleased.

Took a tour of the units they have available and they're nice! I think all the units between $1100 - $1500 were snatched up instantly.

Can we put this beside Osborne Station where the Dollarama/Pet Valu parking lot is? I think it's been said in this thread before but that entire lot is perfect for a cluster of developments.

that's decent news about the leasing....I'm very happy people are buying into 300 main...i had my doubts.

the bend being 2/3 leased with no parking is pretty good.

Is there any way that would be legal here?

Tallest the new building code allows in Canada is 12 storeys, but you could probably get approval for higher if you made the case. There is an 18 storey in Vancouver.

To be clear this is mass timber not 2x6’s. They make slabs of wood called CLT, (cross laminated timber) that are basically wood hollow core. Columns are big heavy timber.

It’s crazy expensive.

Thanks for confirming!

I hope we can get some mass timber here someday, they have a neat look IMO.

Any idea what is afoot at the west corner of McDermot and Sherbrook? There was a crew out there today putting down giant black tarps and covering them with gravel.

For the life of me, I cannot understand why there has never been significant development on that lot. I can remember when it was a supermarket in the 80s. Then it became "Darkzone," for much of the 90s until it closed. Then they built the Burger King, and that building adjacent to it.

Now it is just a Dollarama, with a huge parking lot that is never full. I would love to see them raze the Dollarama building, for development of some apartment/condo complex.

Yes it was the Dominion grocery store, then a car dealership, before Darkzone came along. That whole chunk of land desperately needs a rethink.

Years ago there was a news paper article about that location in the business section and it mentioned that it would be hard to develop because of the number of mortgages on the site.

I don't know while there would be multiple mortgages on the land and if they still exist.

Confusion corner itself also isn't a great selling point. Pretty much everyone hates it.

Very true. It could be great, all you need is money and vision. Oh wait...
