Clayton County approved a MARTA extension yesterday into the county.

Can you imagine the trip from Windward Parkway to Lovejoy... that's 50 miles of MARTA rail alone!

Clayton County

North on 400

I think that's a good sign for Atlanta and the rest of the counties.
Maybe in a few years others counties join Marta and extend the system as well. The city is changing and people are more open to public transportation with every year.

It really is...this is more development than I've seen in this city since I moved here in 2000. Remarkable!

It really is, jpk1292000 - all of the development is astounding at this point.

This isn't normal for us. Historically, we are usually one of the first to recover from a recession. This time we seem to be bringing up the rear.

We were so sucker-punched this last time it's a little different, but we are definitely back. Big time.

If people without jobs would stop moving here in such high numbers, we would be in great shape - with an obviously much lower unemployment rate.

So what is that? 6-7 big projects under construction at the moment in Midtown.

-Emory Proton Center
-Project at Peachtree/5th
-Peachtree Pl project in front of MARTA
-University House
-Centergy Student housing
-60 11th Street

About a good 1.2k or so units UC...not bad.

And we have another 2-3k units in the pipeline? I was worried for Midtown for a moment, but it seems projects are finally getting off the ground there again. Exciting times for the area.

Dont forget the DRC Meeting is tuesday so we might have more updates or proposals at the moment but , I think the other midtown proposals will be under construction soon because a lot of them reported to started End of this year or Early next year. So let's don't get to shaking up here YET.

And this is just in Midtown. Buckhead and the Perimeter are also exploding, and downtown can't be too far away from a highrise. Didn't Kasim Reed say something about a tower at Underground Atlanta?

Wasn't that 350 beds, not rooms? I don't think those will be towers.

This was approved by the Gwinnett Planning Commission and will go before the Gwinnett Commissioners on Nov. 18th for final approval.

It sounds like there is strong chance of it happening they already have a large corporate client looking to relocate their HQ there. It might be NCR Corp. (I hope not, I work for them and would rather them stick with the Midtown site they were looking at).

It was in the papers and forums years ago when it was up for a public vote. Marta has to use 50% of receipts towards improvements and expansion. They do not need approval for that from the public. This was struck down by the voters when they opted against the tax increase but as you see, the beltline is moving forward, and trolly downtown, and Marta line from Lindbergh to Avondale via CDC/Emory as well. Slowly but surely.
