I feel those Wendy's had a weird smell, and it had something to do with the sunrooms turning into greenhouses. Without the A/C on full blast, the mildew under the frostie-stained carpet and dining room funk has a chance to fill the space.

That said, are those Lucien Lagrange buildings really that bad? Don't they add a bit of eclecticism and warmth versus yet another messed up glass box with 5 different exterior patterns made of metal panels that will corrode in 10 years?

Since that's the lot across from Garrett's that's been vacant for what feels like an eternity, I don't really care if he builds another boring building there. Something needs to go in that lot. It's been empty waaaaay too long.

Just an FYI, the Hancock, Mies towers, Sears, etc have all been clad in anodized aluminum for 50-60 years and none of them have any signs of corrosion. Modern materials are engineered better than that so I highly doubt anything from this boom will "corrode in 5-10 years" no matter how ugly, boring, or unsexy it is

To be honest, other than the more “classic” version of the proposal across Mary Bartelme park (I hope they don’t go with that one, it will look way out of place in the West Loop), none of these look bad. Even the hotel has the portential to be halfway decent if they at least clad the base in stone and use something decent for the crown
There’s nothing Parisian about Lucien Lagrange. I doubt they’d even allow him to design buildings in Paris.

900 W Washington is looking great so far. Their base may be opaque glass, but it’s much better than the podium across the way at 922.

Illume is another winner, imo. Interesting design, materials look good, and it fits in well with the neighborhood.

I could be mistaken, but it looks like the Hoxton has some mechanical room on the east side of the roof. Would that be the prime city view for a rooftop bar? Seems odd. Maybe it’s a temporary room for the skip?

Agree with everything you said. Also Hoxton has a plan for a rooftop bar to the best of my knowledge.
