It's going to take a pretty mediocre musical act for Q2 not to sell out in Austin. The location is almost on top of the center of population so it's a lot easier to get to than COTA for a lot of people. It also only sits 20k which isn't tough to sell out unless you're selling soccer tickets in Columbus, Ohio.

What a crowd! Wow. Looked great on TV. Still think they built it about 5k too small though. And what was up with the gap in the ribbon board in the se corner? Please tell me that's not permanent. Can't wait for Saturday!

Makes perfect sense to me. I'd love to see it, as would my daughter.

The stadium is expandable to 22.5k.

As long as we get the NWSL and not that new weird women's league that USL just announced that seems semi-pro.

I mean, I'll take what we can get, but I would really like to see top-tier women's players in town regularly.

I think Austin is a no-brainer for a team.

I know. 2.5k too small though IMO. They've shoehorned themselves in with the roof and can't expand beyond 22.5k without spending a buttload of money. Just nitpicking. All in all a beautiful stadium with great amenities which provide for a great match day experience for the fan.

Its new though - I think 5 years from now if the team is mediocre and the shiny new has worn off they want to still have a rockin atmosphere.

Plus if they do end up adding a NWSL team, that will probably siphon off at least a few attendees (some won't be able to afford season tickets to both, and will opt for the NWSL tickets).

The conversation of stadium capacity was discussed ad nauseam months ago. I believe we all can agree the initial design is too small for the demand. But, in fairness to the Team...that demand was not completely known when design work began.

Interesting side note: There are more people on the season ticket waiting list than can fill the stadium. Each one of those on the waiting list has deposited at least $50 per seat. So, Austin FC is sitting on over $1 million in deposits right now.

The total design seating capacity for Q2 is 22,000 (not 22,500). The team has already said it will begin expanding the stadium's capacity (to 22,000) at the end of this season.

Just get a huge helicopter, raise the roof, add another balcony all the way around, plop the roof back down. Done. Boom.

Just read about the big traffic snarls last night and the lack of parking at or near stadium. How did this thing get built without adequate parking? This looks to be a big problem for the immediate area going forward. https://cbsaustin.com/news/local/q2-...he-new-stadium
